Banana essence

is a highly concentrated flavour extracted frombananas onto an alcohol base or synthesised artificially using chemical compounds. Artificial essence is simply chemical mixtures that mimic a natural flavor in some way.

For your purpose of flavouring a smoothie, either would work, muppet. Also, if a banana has too many carbs, your diet is completely wrong.

And thanks for pointing out the obvious, i.e. that extract and essence are not the same things. My point all along.

Surely, what I choose to add to my food is my choice and I enquired about extract, not essence.
