Just another interesting way to check the download loss. I have been keeping track of my HDD sizes as I am doing a clean up and on the day the 1 gb when missing none of the drives increased in size so how do you explain that. Definitely no MS updates or the likes???
Remove your account details from the modem/router and create a dial-up and change the password.
Do you have a wireless modem/router?
You have to put your router in bridge mode, and then you can create a new PPPoE connection on your PC to dial the account.A dumb question but how does one do this (the bold part)?
Well here's a weird one. I had about 800mb in my account this morning. By my estimates, I used about 200mb. Then late this pm, I decide to check out a free usenet server and a newsreader. I request the newslist and the subject headers of one or two groups. Bang, 600mb is gone out of my account. There is no way I downloaded any of it from Telkom. The only way its gone, is because the server is proactively planning for the eventuallity I might download the entire Usenet with binaries and alles. So they take me out just in case. Either that, or somebody doesn't like Usenet fullstop. BTW, why isn't Telkom providing free USENET? Also, why no gopher server for basic services like Project Gutenburg?
Do you think we will ever get an answer?
WHAT exactly do you want ?????????
People have mentioned a number of things to try / test
Have you tried them ALL ????
It is a bit like Skydiving -- YOU have to be responsible for your OWN parachute.
During an active session note YOUR IP address
then phone your ISP give them this info plus your Telephone number and ask them to check what is going on
and
monitor your account.

I do think it's a coincidence all my bandwidth stopped disappearing after giving them so much grief
I guess they want Afrihost to fix their systems. If one user reports missing bandwidth then one assumes that the user is a noob and gives them the speech you just gave about firewalls etc.WHAT exactly do you want ?????????
I'm not clued up on Afrihost systems and maybe all of the above are mistaken and the Afrihost system is perfect. Thats quite possible, but at some point it becomes statistically improbable.
