Hey Everybody

Here at work, we have 8 people sharing a internet connection. We have a 8 gig cap and has reached this cap every month. Considering we only check e-mail, somebody is downloading big files. Can anybody advise software which blocks certain websites, and can monitor bandwidth by IP Address? Something like IPCop but for XP, preferably freeware.

Thanks

What hardware are you using? Are you sharing a DSL connection? Is the router sharing the connection? What is the setup?

1) Most routers provide the ability to filter certain traffic out, so you could get the router to do the dirty work
2) If you are using a server, the server could be configured to filter the traffic, but what operating system is it running?
3) How sophisticated would you want the "monitor" to be? Perhaps consider investing in a server (if you don't already have one) running IPCop: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IPCop
