My folks who are banting, are coming for a braai tomorrow, and I'm out of ideas what to serve for dessert

I would normally serve strawberries and cream, but they are out of season now. I also don't want to take a normal recipe and replace the sugar with stevia/xylitol - it's just not the same.

We've had strawberries this week, some lovely ones. You should be able to track it down.

Otherwise, you can try bancakes or blueberries etc.

I've made Creme Brulee and just used Xylitol instead of sugar.

Was awesome and easy.

My local Spar is overflowing with the most delicious looking strawberries I've seen in long while

I also usually do the cream/cacao/xylitol mousse thing which is quick and painless. I also like greek yoghurt sprinkled with cinnamon but not sure if that will do as a dessert for guests.

whip cream until stiff, melt chocolate in a bowl over boiling water, when melted fold the melted chocolate into the whipped cream quickly as it will start going hard quickly.

Make it for my kids all the time its like a 5 minute mouse.

thanks for the replies. I did find some strawberries at my local fruit and veg store. I covered them with melted dark chocolate and served with whipped cream. It was amazing

I want a Malva banting pudding. Or is that going against the laws of nature? :D

I just bought the July Fresh Living magazine and they have a banting friendly malva pudding recipe in there!

All these bloody diets and eating plans makes it difficult to even invite people over. Now you have to cater for their new wonderful special eating habits :(

Nope, braai ala Mortymoose. You want a Bantung? What? P off ya twat. I eat normal food.

Actually banting is really easy for social in SA. Just have meat, the salads ( except potato and carrot ) and bring your own cauli-mash. We've had no issues with friends and family.
