Hey guys at the moment I am doing Linux +.
So since I want to do really well for my exams.
I am attempting to only use the terminal (aka no GUI) for a couple of weeks.
Yes it is weird surfing the internet with Lynx.

Moving on, I have a list of commands but how do I for example play a cd or a mp3 while only using the terminal?
Not to mention while doing that how can I carry on doing what I am doing in the terminal while not closing the "cd player for example"
Thanks for all your help guys.

If you don't want the player to end i think you could type nohup before the command. e.g nohup firefox - will launch firefox and firefox will not close when the terminal is.
To play audio files etc, i think you will still need a program.

Something like xmms maybe?

sudo apt-get xmms2

check out sox...that is the commandline tool i would recommend for this

mp3blaster
The reason I will not use any other one is cause it is quite easy to control from CLi and works great over the network.

Switch between the terminal session with ctrl+alt+(F1-6)
Open mp3blaster in F1, and switch to F2 to browse the net and F3 to do whatever work in vi.
