Bats in Roof

Since you have a real bat problem, perhaps a good idea to take your pups to be vaccinated. Rabies and bats isn't actually common at all. Most bats don't have rabies but one can never be to careful.

What makes you think my pups are not vaccinated?

They even get the Covid injection.

Every year I have Starlings move into my roof despite installing preventative measures. I have watched the returning mothers physically attack "oogies draad" till they get in. Currently sitting in my home office with screetching babies above my head. Terrible mothers.

Joburgers blase attitude to having rats was a culture shock moment for me.

If anyone can explain how a rat got into a chest freezer. It was the most horrible thing in the world. So moved in and there was still stuff here like a old fridge and freezer. Both gutted from the outside but no holes in them. So I opened the fridge. Nothing to write home about.

My goodness when I opened the bench freezer. The smell was horrible. I started to push the darn thing out of the house almost the same second that stench filled the kitchen. Turns out there have been a dead rat in it for who knows how long.

Did someone put it in there as a joke? I don't know. But there are few things that was that horrible.

The babies in the roof is a problem. They fall onto the insulation and die leaving little biological land mines that you will have to deal with. What you can try is what I used on the outside of the house. Builders have a "Builders 2 hour rapid set Tile Adhesive" Now I didn't use it as intended. I filled the hole from the outside and smoothed it out. It work well enough it didn't crack or anything. Just became rock hard.

But I see products like this and wonder if they work.

no they dont work ,these gizmos were designed for the US market where open wiring between panels in wooden houses get eaten ,it puts a useless pulse supposedly onto the wires and emits an ultrasonic pulse that sends rats scurrying ,mice and rats are not stupid, gimmicks dont fool them or scare them .

Yea the standard mouse trap is also useless. But glue traps work really well. I set up a few at first and they just worked. So put down a lot more. I then had to deal with the fallout. Drowning was my only real option. After that I just put everything in a drum that was already on the property add some scrap wood and fuel and set it alight.

Thankfully after a while there where no more rats and mice on the property. I did feel bad but I had to do what I had to do.

a have heard that people mix cement powder and mealie meal and put it in a dry place .it gets ingested and because mice and rats cant regurgitate it ,it sucks them dry and sets up hard .sounds a bit rough ,you need to keep up with prevention otherwise they will over run you again ,with mice the rattex powder is very effective ,they get it on their fur and ingest it while cleaning .

Have a single bat living under the afdak.
Comes out at sunset, chows some bugs and then goes back home.
Doesn't bother anyone, but does leave droppings all over :cautious:

The sad reality of vermin. I don't like or enjoy the fact that I had to rid my house from them in the way that I did. But I understand the damage they can do and the health risks that they present. It is true that most animals will not harm you and does not have this deadly infection. But it only takes one.

I tested the link it should show you a man to afraid to drink water. Sadly he past away. He was infected due to a bite. I know you don't like long content so I found a shot about it. But if you have a problem with the female presenter then I can't really do anything about it.

This thread inspired me to breed with bats. I will force them to bat-cantilever. Then I am going to set them free. A plague of bats with Horizontal Syndrome is going to attack the Tiktok generation. This will be over 400% fatal so not even medical aid will be able to help them.
