Battlefield 2

McJunk hears: Enemy Helicopter Spotted Over Enemy Slick Inbound.

Is there an easy way to do the "spotted" thing? When I use the Commo Rose, I often get killed before I finished spotting.

so, they just give these stuff to SGS? the bandwidth? so saix doesnt have its own bandwidth? now i am a bit puzzled. how does SAIX relate to Telkom and how come they can spend hundreds of thousands (i assume) per month on games and servers (there are a crapload of servers that SGS hosts, 4 bf2's and prolly like 30 others)?

SAIX = "Telkom SAIX"
SGS = "SAIX Game(s?) Service"

SAIX = Telkom = SGS

SGS Servers are located in some saix building, I forget where :)

Most dedicated game servers are free to operate (I.e you don't need to buy bf2 to host a dedicated server)

SGS are also on good terms with EA - hence the fact that the servers are ranked (Its a pretty impressive accomplishment actually)

gkm - if you just press q then click straight away it will automatically do a spotted, and if you have the thing you're spotting in your sights it will say the correct thing.

eg, look at a tank and press Q followed by a mouse click and it'll say "Enemy Armour spotted"

You don't need to manually select what you want to spot

rsd: damn interesting! especially the thing with EA!

never knew about the light side of Telkom. well, i knew they were in control of SGS and SAIX are basically Telkom, but that they just plonk the servers down and say "Have a jol" is new to me. I thought some rich bloke somewhere is having a blast with his "AntFarm". hehehe

Thanks for the tip rsd.

Cuz sometimes you're a poor lonely medic with only a handful of grenades to your name, and your sphincter decides to tremble as a very large, very armoured tank comes up to your position, and all you can do is shoot it with your peashooter and hear the miserable 'plunk' 'plink' noises as your bullets bounce off, or toss a few grenades which miss horribly, or the nasty tank pulls off before they explode.

You know, that kind of thing. :eek:

Cus den your bud in the aeroplane/attack chopper can take out the freaking enemy and save the flag and then your team wins and you get zero recognition. LOL.

Or you can do the Rambo thing and charge straight at it with C4, cuz either way you're going to die and you might as well get some points for it. ;) and then when you die there's a medic trembling behind a rock to bring you back . . .

That whole bring you back thing is wierd.

You're outta ammo, and use a last didch kamikaze knife effort to kill a bunch of blokes grouped around a flag, get 1, die.
Next thing you hear - CLEAR.
And Wack - back in the game, still no ammo - wack - dead - CLEAR.

Sometimes you can see that they're purposefully not shooting the medic.

Grrrrrr.

I usually find that the medics are the first to be killed, to prevent them from reviving players.

One thing I can say tho, you can really rack up points being a medic.

What I miss is a way to stop the tank. I drive into base at speed. Guy in APC shooting at me. I see one of my team mates standing next to building but as I come up to drive past this building, he runs off right into the path of my tank. I actually saw this happening like in slow motion. I climbed onto tank's brakes but needless to say, tank just does not stop there and then. Placed a skid mark on his back. Thank goodness guy knew he was in the wrong - no tk.

Yea - It's a 4 ton tank - it should be able to stop in 1 metre.
C'mon. What kind of reality is that ?

People are beginning to learn to look left and right BEFORE crossing the street.

It woz probablee me you ran over - I have this wierd impulsive thing - see what I want - start running - look for danger. Not: Look for danger then start running.

stoke, I feel your pain, almost literally ;)

You get plastered by a sniper, so the medic revives you...Right infront of the same sniper, bam, now you're both dead again. Or worse, he doesn't take out the medic, and your left in a sort of defibrelator pergatory, trying to get away, or at least to a different spawn point, or at worst wanting to TK your own medic for using you to farm points . . .

Good to know where the tank is, so that I can try to C4 it. :D I promise I will only spot stuff that is to far for me to shoot at yet. Maybe somebody else is then in a good position to do soimething about it. :)

Hey come on, where's your die hard skills?
Other night i was a medic for kicks, i was tired and was just following this one dude around helping him defend our base, he decides to run off on foot and take another base on a 64 player full map, crazy, all on his own, so i follow
. He gets taken out, so i'm sitting in the bushes can't get to him in time so i'm all alone, only grenades left, so i reckon hell lets go throw some in their base, run to the wall, chuck some in , kill 3 guys, heal myself up, jump over the wall, see 2 apc's and a tank, steal the dead guys backpack, its special ops, run over to the armoured vehicles kamikaze style, lay c4, manage to get away, blow 2 of them up, see a medic kit lying, grab it , heal myself up again, jump into a buggy, drive right upto the last apc, jump out of it, the guy inside gets out to find me, i lay some pistol shots in his head, lie down next to the flag, start stealing, hear the footsteps of someone running, guy jumps over the little sandbag practically ontop of me, i jump right up, change to knife and jump around and on him and knife him! Flag recovered! and still alive! :)

Yes, I wanted to cry a couple of times after being revived without any ammo, only to be killed again repeatedly. However, most of the time I am really glad to be revived.

But i do spot, unless the guy is ontop of me and its life or death in 0.3 seconds!

Whats with some of those commanders, they never SPOT anyone for you, why the hell do they even do SCANS then! its annoying, if your at a base and theres a bad dude, the Commander should spot him for you! Especially on defense!

But this whole spotting while in combat can be bad, i've many times released the "q" button before actually pushing "spotted" and inadvertantly let a tank shot fly out amongst my own troops!

Yea - i'm wif bboy.
If you see it and you can - spot it - it really helps with decision making when you know where stuff is.
BF1942's F4 + Fwhatever worked like a charm, and I miss it.
The Q+Click method is sucky unless all you's gonna do it spot.
It's too intrusive.
It could be: mouse over object + press key[x] and spot is sent out. Non intrusive, easy.
