And - when you shoot me, comonover, point the rifle at my head, and crouch, uncrouch.
I'll be watching in my comatose state, and I will get my revenge.

Heh, you're gonna start a ritual.

It would be funny to see MyADSLers doing that to all their victims as a type of "signature" ;)

Did you know that if you're dead, and you don't spawn, you can press the jump key to get a view of the action? (Close the spawn screen first)

For eg, I do this on Mashtuur city when there's no spawn points left so I can see what's going on. :p

Hehe i played bf2 for the 2nd time ever last night, and i must say i had a crapload of fun.

I even knifed 3 okes, lol.
I got tk'd 4times :( and i tk'd once, and it was by accident and the dude punished me :( (Although in his defense he was sitting in a buggy and i ran up 2 him and blasted him, why his tags didnt show up are a mystery to me, cos everyone elses were...hehe neway.)

Fivesa helped me out quite a bit, i just need to get a mic so i can talk back, cos my current mic is broken :/
Only after he helped me out did i realise the game was about getting flags :D

When you are in tanks and you get a lift etc, and u have those artillery guns, do those do anything to choppers and tanks? Cos i seem to shoot them with those guns and nothing happens to them...

Also when i choose the assualt dude and lets say a tank is 10-20m away from me and the dude hasnt seen me,how do i destroy it/kill the dude inside? Cos i like shoot the top part of the tank and it just turns around and p4ns me...

Must say now that i am understanding the game more, its really fun :)

Cheers
J

Wikked. It's got it's hooks in you. Beware - the power of the BF will cost you large gaps of time.

There r Tanks and APC's.
Tank:
In a tank, 2 people can ride. One inside the tank, and one ontop of the tank on the turrent gun.
The bloke on the turrent gun can be taken out with a well aimed shot to the head.
The bloke in the tank dies when the tank dies.
So - use up all your gun grenades on the tank, then use up all your hand grenades on the tank, and you'll probably have damaged the tank 50%.
You need about 3 AT personell to take out a tank with about 6 shots of the AT rocket launcher. (AT = Anti-Tank)
APC:
There are 2 kinds of APC's, one carrying 5, one carrying 7.
One person is in control of the Turrent and Drives.
The rest just sit around and wait for somebody to say - abandon ship, or use the mounted automatic rifles to shoot anything that moves.
I recon that all your grenades will take out about 80% of the APC's armour, and the peeps will come pouring out of it when the "I'm gonna blow" alarm sounds inside the APC, so be ready to press 3 and take them out.

Also - if you see an AT missile launcher standing on the ground (Single Barrel Rocket Launcher), use it to take the tank out - it can kill one with one shot, just remeber that the AT missile launcher is a guided launcher and moving the sights moves the missile as it flies through the air.

But - killing tanks is the domain of Anti-Tank personell and other Armour/Flying things. You can pickup a dead AT's kit with the G key, and use his remaining rockets (If any) to take out the Tank/APC if you're brave enough.

On the ranked servers, you can't jump between players - at least, not that I've noticed.
Could be there was only one guy left when I was trying ;)

@Killa - I got myself a logitech extreme 3d pro - after seeing how you were flying choppers with the thing, I decided to give it a go. MUCH nicer than my crappy sidewinder. That thing had to much play to get a really smooth chopper flight. The logitech is rock solid, so the chopper flying is greatly improved - I just need to get used to it to get it to the same levels as my mouse flying ;)

Choppers can be taken out with any gun (except maybe a shotgun to be realistic - not sure). However, the best options are guns mounted on armor, AT rockets and other aircraft. I find that two humvees working together with nice machinegun crossfire is the best way to take out a chopper. One can cut up a chopper in seconds that way.

Some of the best moments in the game for me is when I shoot down a chopper with my rifle.

If you're going to be commander on anything higher than a 16 player, DO NOT FIGHT.
Go hide somewhere to command the battle. You'll just piss ppl off if they see you running around when you're supposed to be directing things. -- It pisses me off when I see commanders buggering around. Had a fat argument with one guy one day about it, lol.

When I first started playing commander, I scored multiple golds, silvers and bronzes. It's a good way to rack up score, if you're in to that.

Come to think of it, I haven't played commander in a little while. I prefer being out in the field.

I also prefer the field but i really wont to know how to command for when we are loosing so badly and no one else is keen to take the command you know what i mean so geek could we set something up and maybe you could give me a few pointers :D

One theory was that is is the average of everybody's scores, but from my testing that does not seem to be the case.

My theory, based on stuff I read on the net is: The main source of points is what one gets for other people killing guys spotted by your UAV. I think one gets one point for each 4 arty kills, so to do well, one should actually never use arty. (But I still use it.) You also get points if your supplies are used by your side. You also maybe gets points for sqaud leaders accepting orders and filling requests by squad leaders. Note, this is all just speculation on my side.

I agree with thisgeek. I get major pissed if I see a commander running around on a big player game. If there are only 5 people on a side, then the commander has to do his bit shooting people etc. But for a 16+ per side, the commander should not get any rifle kills, except in self defense.

Commanders like to arty each other when there is nothing else to arty, so I always try to hide under a roof when playing commander.

To be honest, it's no good being commander if you don't have any good squads to support you. Also, don't bother trying to be commander if you're losing badly and it's already halfway through the round. You won't make much difference, if at all.

You should be using arty constantly - BUT never use it if you have your own team members nearby, or tell them to get the hell out the way.

Rule is: bombard, bombard, bombard. You *have* to keep them busy. If you've got nothing to bombard, do a scan, find the solitary dot in the middle of nowhere, and send an arty there - 9 times out of 10 you've just nailed the enemy commander. ;)
I find it as funny as hell, especially when the commander suddenly has a personal vendetta against you and personally comes after your @ss.

Send supply drops to the guys that ask for it. If they don't ask, drop it near occupied armor, it will help repair them, and supply them with more ammo if they need it - like mobile AA.

If your equipment such as arty, radar, or uav trailer gets blown, drop a supply crate nearby, it will get repaired. It gets really annoying if they constantly blow your equipment tho - the supply crate drop takes awhile to regenerate.

Also, if you're planning on being commander, spawn as engineer, and be somewhere near your equipment so that you can repair it if necessary. Stay hidden though.

Keep your UAVs flying. If you're not sure where to drop it, do a scan to see the location of heavy enemy activity, and drop a UAV there. In the mean time, your scan will regen. As soon as the UAV is finished, do another scan. By the time the scan is complete, your UAV should be ready again.

Although I'm quite bad at it, keep in touch with your squad leaders, let them know about incoming armor etc, but DON'T spot all the time, cuz 'enemy troops spotted' gets really annoying after the millionth time from the commander.

If you see snipers, spot them, sure, cuz they're annoying buggers. Arty them if necessary.

Something to remember, if you're commander, and you're not in top-down view, if you're running around with other players, you can use the secondary radio (T) to drop UAVS and supplies etc to your position.

HAha. Play around in single player mode. You can experiment to your hearts content. I am still trying to master flying a chopper in SP. You can also get some practise as a commander.

For scoring - arty kills are added to your stats. Dunno about the actual score tho.
You get points if a squad leader accepts an order.
You also get the average score of your whole side, double if you win. It's more incentive for your team to do well.

The 16 player maps in SP suck for practise - although it's good to have enemies to shoot at.

Rather create a local MP server to practise on. The only annoying thing is the message 'Waiting for 1 more player(s) to start the game' that is plastered over the middle of your screen. You learn to ignore it tho. -- Unless you have someone who's willing to join so you can muck around.

I've done this a couple of times with a friend of mine. My dog fighting skills have improved somewhat.

*ahem* The best way to take out armour is as spec ops. Grab 2x bags of C4 run up and slap them on the side of a tank, run like hell and hope like h*ll the guy doesn't see you. There no better rush. - Doesn't quite work for choppers though ;)

Rough one last night, I twisted my ankle while playing BF2 . . .

I did some rough calculations and the average thing does not seem to be the case, but I guess without concrete information, anything is possible. The double score for a win is certainly a big incentive.
