I've managed to take out a chopper with C4 once - Thing was hovering above the flag, I jumped up, threw a C4 package at the bottom, then blew it when it flew away.
Great fun! :)

The pilots must have been wondering what the hell happened. Hehe.

I did some rough calculations and the average thing does not seem to be the case, but I guess without concrete information, anything is possible.

According to the *ahem* official strategy guide, you get an average of the team score. You can get points for other things as well, which could account for your calculations.

I wish they would give a proper breakdown of how the scoring for a commander works tho.

Yes, this guessing is a pain. I guess one can play commander once and just do nothing and see what the score is, maybe on a LAN game or something to not upset the other players.

I tried to lay a few packs of c4 on a copper last night just as it was about to take off and got wiped out by the blades i guess

Yes - my major gripe is the fraking manual that comes with the game - whatzupwiththat ? It's a waste of paper.

I agree and that goes for all games most games today the manual is thinner than the cd's excepted for simulations and a few others

I did a quick test in single player mode. Applied for commander and then just ran away. After a couple of minutes I added up everybody's scores in my team and I indeed had the average of those as my score.

The reason for that is so that they can make money with the "Official Strategy Guide".

Send supply drops to the guys that ask for it. If they don't ask, drop it near occupied armor, it will help repair them, and supply them with more ammo if they need it - like mobile AA.

Although I'm quite bad at it, keep in touch with your squad leaders, let them know about incoming armor etc, but DON'T spot all the time, cuz 'enemy troops spotted' gets really annoying after the millionth time from the commander.

It is quite a good idea to drop supplies into a firefight - your guys can use it to reload and repair incase there is a counter attack or to push home the initiative.

I disagree on the spotting though. The UAV and spotting show up the enemy which is useful for your troops to use to hunt down targets. It can also be a warning. I've spotted tanks taking down a flag just in case one of my infantry chaps tries to take it on.

@McJunk: Hehehe, rituals. Tut tut, smacks of a disturbed mind ;)
Nah that won't peeve me. If I get shot it's coz the sodjer who shot me was on the ball. I only see red when it rhymes with slyme. Wanton tk punishers are the stale, sweaty arm-pits of BF2 no 1 wants be them or near them.
Say old boy... wot would be your other nick McJunk? You were lying around like bait last night (3 untakeable iraqi flags, city map @ 3 s-point flag)

Yeah the manual was a bit of a waste. But thats why we have this thread, hehehe.

I know. I was mainly referring to constantly spotting every single soldier in the nearby vicinity. It's good to spot armor and choppers etc.

Hey I almost forgot to tell you guys this funny story

so I'm fleeing from a group of tank apc and transport truck dodging like mad i have no idea how but i got it right or they were real bad shots
our team is down to like one flag and peeps are dying left right and centre my sprint is almost all used up and i can see the corner im going to take
when all of a sudden a red guy runs in front of me i stop for a sec take a shot blammm --dead-- carry on in a split second all the time i can hear the tanks.
by now my heart is in my throat and my finger ready to shot my own shadow ....
i get around the corner and there is a guy so i shoot and move blamm another dead then i see the team kill message i hit 6 on the keyboard and wipp out the paddles ....
clear voopa i think before he could vote to forgive me he was alive and running around ..
and then the inevidable BLAM i get hit by no doubt the apc a few min later it was all over
but what a rush

I dunno if I'll play online tonight - I need to get used to my new joystick. I'll prolly create a local 32 player server and muck around with that.
If anyone wants to join, post here or PM me and I'll open up my firewall and give you the addy.

Err no. You misunderstand. I will host a 32 player server, as in map, but connections will be severely limited. Can definitely handle 1, but prolly 2 extra connections at most. Only got 384. Mind you, according to those net tests I did for RPM, I have huge upload bandwidth, so who knows, mebbe more.

But anyway, it's there, so I don't care if nobody connects.
