I think the only way to reduce the pain is to have a goatse.cx kind of thing going.

So what do you guys think of the new patch. Has anyone tried chopper hopping? Is is still as effective?

for chopper hopping now everybody has to LEAVE the chopper to capture and get the points for flagging posts... nice... and at last...

And them stingers are not longer braindead. got a coupla planes last night. Also, with everone disembarking their vehicle, its now a lot easier to defend a cp. For the first time since started playing online, i got points in the double figures; and i increased my killing spree value; and i got 2 medals and a rank increase ( all in one game! )

Doh, sounds like I really missed out last night. Fell asleep putting my son to sleep, only woke up around midnight :p

Someone was asking : GZ server IP can be found in the BF2 article on their website.

TKP - my new stance is "innocent until proven guilty". In any tight nerved engagement I'll forgive anything, but if I'm casually strolling across a map and get shot in the back of the head, that's punishable.

New peeve - switchers. Playing on Sunday night one of my teamies was b!tching that he could switch to the winning team. I mean come on! The guys don't want to put up a decent fight, they'd rather just move teams!? That to me is very bad sportsmanship.

Pity the changes to AA don't improve my AT aiming skills any ;)

err.. yeah.. Wake Island 2007... sorry. how is that map?

Not bad - looks just like the BF1942 one that someone left a bunch of shot down zeroes on. The sea looks really inviting for a swim. If I recall correctly the carrier is further away. The narrow approaches do mean that you get a nice mix of infantry supported armour. And it is small so stuff happens very quickly.

/me pats eye-suck on back too ...
Me the same, but it's such a loong way to walk, easier to grab a vehicle to the fighting point.
Insofar as good squads go, yea - difficult to find - I uusually join one after 2 minutes of play, and end up listerning to 2 blokes in a chopper, then find another squad, and they're in a plane and then ... it's annoying. And the loss of squad every turn sucks beeg time. I found an excellent squad once, and then could never get the same 6 together again. Moan Moan ...

I enjoy flying planes now n then - when I can get one... and I really like the attack chopper, again, when I can get one.. which is usually for the first flight at the beginning of a round. :p

The only time I will switch a team is if I'm trying to get on the same team my buddy is on, cuz we like playing together as a squad (XEye / Zazool).

Bummer - Webmarshal's blocking that site :(

I need a noob guide. That's me, reborn noob ;)

With the new extensions on usernames maybe we should set something up to identify MyADSL peeps?

Yip BF2 is all about squading for me now. I lose interest really quickly when I
I can't find a good squad. It's intimidating to see a squad moving in as a unit towards your position. And it rules to be in that squad! Organized squads are scarier than that Iraqui attack chopper. It's quite a lot of work to be a squad leader tho.

Also Methinks not enough peeps spot. If all were spotting when they saw troops in the hazey distance then you would have a reasonably consistent transmap UAV effect.
Spotting while under fire is bad but when run-walking across a map or while playing sniper killing time by spotting everything you see is good.
Would be nice if EA gave points for spotting. 0.1 points per infantry so spotting a squad = 0.6 points. Single harder targets could get maybe 0.3. Intelligence gathering is a vital part of the game.
Would have to resist spamming tho. A spotted unit flashes for a while after. No need to spot the same unit every tenth of a second.
I’ve done that :D

Yea - me has a tendancy to spot stuff twice, just incased the fist spot missed.
BTW - spotting seems a lot easier wif the new patch too - missed a chopper by a bit [wif da crosshairs] and still it spotted it correctly.

PS - Does any of u'ze also have to up the brightness on the monitor before you play ?

Hmm. Does a spotted thing remain spotted as long as you can see it?

Yeah, you should get something for spotting, many times I've eaten lead just so the rest of the squad can nail the guy.

Alternatively, the game could "autospot": If you see something / put your sights on it and the red tag pops up, it should automatically inform your squad mates, not necessarily the whole team.

Alternatively have an automating "taking fire" that flashes your icon to the team so they know your in a gunfight.
