Battlefield 2

quite a few posters are reporting laggy servers... whats going on? i cant say it for myself as i am away from BF2 till the patch is out...

23 pages here ;)

I can't stand only reading 15 replies on one page. 30 ftw :D

Much better last night, although I didn't see any of the same "offenders" from the other night, I switch off everything running in the background and didn't have any issues except bad aim ;)

The servers were really laggy though! And that Month end reset at 00h00 is an absolute @#$@. And also explains where all the experienced players went at 11:30 :)

re BF2: The noobs and Insta-Ptkers are putting me off this cool game :(

Lag was very nasty last night. I got a death streak of 14. It was: see somebody -> turn to shoot -> just keep on turning even through I am frantically moving the mouse in the other direction -> next scene is me lying on the ground -> hear the sound of the medic reviving me -> try to get up and run for cover, but see a connection problem message -> lying back on the ground dead again.

Funny how the game is polarizing. Last night I could see the "Clan Squads" working properly together racking up near hundreds of points each, and at the other end of the spectrum was the noobs that pick spawn points just because they're near the Tanks . . .

. . Typically my team . . . :P

Last night was the most chaotic fun I've had in AGES! Was in pork-chops squad in that plane-less map (Karkand?) and we were the US (you start with only your own base points) and we stormed ahead. CHAOS!!! PEople dying everywhere! Played support and got my most kills in a round ever! with a nice ratio of about 3.5:1

DAMN! The scary part? The US almost never had any flags but we still won purely based on the amount of people we kept mowing down. Its amazing the damage that support machine gun can do... And the sad part? I'm now hooked again... Nuts

hello all this is my first post in BF2 and i will soon be getting my copy of BF2.

but as I'm not the sharpest tool in this box can someone please tell me is there any way to measure how much bandwidth i will use in an hour playing BF2

hehehe, yes sir, try and use netmeter... (i think its free still)

it has a counter that can be reset at will. So when you start your bf2 session you reset the counter and then you go check your total usage once you are done.

there are others i suppose, but this one seems to work fine, plus it has a nice little graph that runs showing your usage. quite neeto

PS: The sharpest tools in the toolshed/box are always a bunch of pr!x... hehehe, get it?

I estimate BF2 uses just over 1MB per minute. It varies depending on map, number of players etc, but that should give you some idea on how long you will play before your cap runs out, i.e. less than two hours per day on a 3GB account.

I think we are all hoping the 1.03 patch will make this better, since 1MB per minute is just crazy.

So if i got that right and i what i think a gig is is a gig then it should last about 8-9 day at 2 hours a day

I tried again last night, my ping was averaging at 20-30ms and again people/vehicles were jumping all over the show. It just doesnt make sense though, the lag would be understandable if my ping was high but it wasnt.

Hopefuly things might be a bit better this evening.

Um - lets c
- 1GB = 1000MB.

Play for 8 hours (Typical Sunday) = 1MB * 60 (minute to Hour) * 8 (Hours) = 480MB on a Sunday. That's almost half a gig for one player playing a whole Sunday.

OR

You can probably work on the assumption that 10 hours of play = 1GB.
So - a 3GB account gives you 30 hours of play, or roughly 1 hour a day.
