Special Forces working

Well, it's all working and did not take too long.

I installed Special Forces and then just Re-applied the latest patch and it was good to go.

I cannot wait for the unlocks to come through though - I need to get some of my own back with that blasted F2000.

I only got to play SF for 5 minutes and BF2 for less than one half of a map, but it's cool.

The night maps will take some geting used to, but this could be fun.
 
How much is Special Forces? Should I buy it?

I do like the SF guns... and I find it unfair that I have to buy it to unlock them sooner!

dont worry, not everybody has SF... just keep whacking the Spec Ops dudes on the BF2 maps and get their kits, its the best way to try out their weapons for free! :D
 
Na - there's a new expansion pack coming out in Feb - don't bother with SF - or any of them for that matter - it's all bs. Well - unless everybody's playing them of course.

At the moment - hardly anybody plays SF - so it's a waste.
 
I tend to agree, it's a bit dissappointing. There's one or two cool maps, that are almost never played, the new weapons are specific armies only (So to try out the g36e or scar-l etc, you've got a 1/16 chance :( ) Zip lines and grappling hooks are cool, but I would say there's really enough to drop R180 for.

The most useful thing has been the enw weapons in BF2, which aren't actually that amazing. The f2000 just looks cool, but is an aweful lot like the m16.

The new booster packs look like a much better proposition
 
I just want the G35E, but I don't get to play much and I'm only a corporal... so getting SF just to unlock it is tempting! Otherwise I'm kicking a$$ with the Jackhammer... but I'm screwed is someone see's me medium to long range. The mines in the kit rule for armour killing though!
 
Aarg!! Wargeeks is down and almost two hours with no BF2 discussion, I'm getting withdrawal Symptoms!!!

Someone set me up the bomb!!! :p
 
Yeah sorry. Box will be rebooted in a lil while. Gotta wait for ppl to wake up (literally) that side.

I'm gonna see if I can organise new hardware, cuz I think the box it's running on currently is getting a bit long in the tooth.
 
I got SF a while back, and while the unlocks are really cool, there are hardly ever people on the servers. I like the grappling hook - it's a nice touch and adds a new dynamic to an already incredible game. Maybe SF will pick up and we will see 2 full 48 player servers up and running... Mmmm... :rolleyes:
 
It's not the size of the server, it's how you use it. That goes for both comments ;)

My complaint with SF is that some of the maps are cr@p. I hate leviathan, warlord, and the sniperfest on the rocket launchpad. If they filtered the server down to the good maps, like Ghost Town(?) and Mass Destruction(?) I think more people would play.

I also think a large complaint is that the "cool new weapons" are very one sided. SAS and USMC got all cool stuff and all the "Enemy states" got was a fricken rpg.
 
Yip those penniless rebel sides need to sell more drugs and buy some decent armaments. I enjoyed sf. Only played it once or twice. Haven't had a chance to go at it again since. My gripe is that I have to stick the SF CD in for it to log on to the server and load the game through sf icon. Other wise Bf2 crashes to desktop :( Opposite happens if I try load vanilla with sf CD in drive after having booted game from sf icon. YEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAARGH

Stoke why you running around with that engineers shotgun so much?
 
I'm learning to become an engineer cos it's the one role I lack a lot of practise in.
Of course- I also lack sniper and special forces practise, but, one at a time.
You nailed me like 7 times last night to my 1. Grrrrrr.

I run my BF2 with the SF CD in the drive, the BF2 DVD is locked away.

Weird. Mine loads just fine with the vanilla BF2 disc.

Mebbe you need to reinstall. ;)
 
:sigh: Reinstallation. There goes an hour and a half of my life.
Engineer is rough. At least you can run further, faster than AT but AT can choose to use carbine instead of shotgun.
Maybe the trick is keeping a low profile, till close range opportunity arises. I dunno.
 
Bah - I also bitched and moaned about the reinstall - it only took like 30 minutes.

Remember to backup your settings in myDocuments else you're going to have to setup your control sensitivity again.

Step 1 : Uninstall SF.
Step 2 : Uninstall BF2.
Step 3 : Install BF2.
Step 4 : Install FS.
Step 5 : Install Patch 1.12 [I think thats the latest right ?]
Step 6 : Copy the settings stuff back.

There ... easy peasy :p.

Engineer : you've got to wait for distraction and ... one mine is more than enough - 2 is overkill !
