Battlefield 3

So yesterday, despite all the **** with Origin, I managed to purchase the DLC. Shortly thereafter Origin crashed and I could not log in again. After muh frustration I gave up last night and went to sleep expecting that everything would be fine this morning.

No such luck. I was up this morning and checked FNB and notice that EA has deducted the R120.00 from my credit card for the game. I then log into Origin and find no hint on my account of BTK. When I try join BTK servers, I get an error saying that I need to purchase the game. Before I left for work I tried to contact their support - 40 minute wait to speak to someone on live chat? I finally sent them a detailed e-mail, to which I still await a response. Seriously WTF.

Try logging out of battlelog (not origin) and logging back in. You should get a message on your news feed saying that u have access to B2K. Other than that there is no sign of B2K even in the origin client, but u do have it.

Also, there's a new patch in the next 18 hours to sort out a missing content issue.

I don't think Origin and Battlelog are "talking" at the moment as I have no problem logging into battlelog but can't get onto Origin, so if Origin is misbehaving battlelog won't function properly. All really confusing, but once you can get into Origin again your BK2 should work in battlelog. I purchased mine on Monday night and it worked last night, well while Origin was working that is...

Dude, origin downloaded like 11gigs for many people.

I am not saying that that isn't true. And maybe I got lucky.

I did the dl - and it took around 20 hours on a Telkom 4MB line but there was a bunch of other updating going on in the house. Boy child was very much into making sure Skyrim was working and girl child was downloading the apple store onto her iPod. Nevermind the better half was updating everything else.

I copied my game directory onto the boy child's computer and hit repair installation. It also said it was dling 13GB (or whatever) but did it in about a minute - so it must have been from the hard drive. It then said it was dling the patch - again, done quickly. It looked like an installation but wasn't.

Oh, and in the middle of my dl I did reset my router. It was at about 80% on progress but was really slow - around 3Kb. It picked up from where it left off. I did haev a back up plan - a friend stays about 2km from home and he had already done the patch thing.

My brother also said his restarted from scratch. But that could have been a reporting problem. He still updated before me.

I'm so sad that I couldn't play last night.

That being said, the little I did play I got pretty pissed off. 4 RPG's to kill a chopper? SERIOUSLY?!?!?!?!
And I hate conquest assault. It's a massive spawn rape fest. If you can fend off the first attack you sit at their spawn and shoot fish in a barrel.

Might just be as we're not used to it yet and people still try and play single player games in MP running around solo, but I hated the 2 conquest assault games I played.

Authentication servers have been up and down like the Assyrian Empire

If anyone else has purchased B2K but it's saying you haven't, here's what you do:

Log out of Origin. Log into Battlelog from the website and then connect to a server. Battlelog will connect you to the server and start up Origin, and everything will work.

LOL - I took out that US jet with a tank. 1 hit to disable and a second to blow the plane and pilot into little bits. Chap was capping a flag - with a jet. Fair play to the pilot but I had a bigger gun :)

Conquest assault is brilliant. I think people just need to get used to it. Also, people are still a bit hesitant as they are still learning the maps - even tho I played bf2, these maps are still abit confusing at first. Also, there seems to be a general unwillingness to play the objective....people are too bloody scared of getting killed. Yes the game is realistic, but no, if you get shot, you WILL NOT die in real life sitting at your computer.

I think we just need to give it some time...yesterday I played two rounds and I swear it was just me and one other guy who was actually trying to capture control points. The other 30 players on my team chilled at the spawn with sniper rifles and rpgs.

I signed up :p Noticed someone else from here is also signed up :D

cant do the training as I doubt I will be very sober 8PM tomorrow night got work function starting at 2PM....

You would be amazed at what things you pick up from other players ;)
Sometimes the smallest things can make a huge difference.

Thats why I enjoyed Black Ops SnD so much, when you die you get to watch the pro's in action from their viewpoint. Learnt a lot, mostly situational awareness, concentrating on sound more than the screen and what difference a surround sound headset makes. Also learnt that I have the reflexes of my gran and that some kids drink way too much coffee and energy drinks
