Battlefield 3

Has anyone played without lag and what server was it?

Why does one map rotate so many times?

I noticed I get a lot of lag on Clan type servers like [Crak] i think it was, and =NSD= . The Mweb Servers have been ok for me, a few lag spikes but mostly smooth sailing. I've not tried an iGame server yet, though I remember during the beta, they were the most lag-free.

I came across a few servers where it seemed they where playing Caspian over and over again (also Clan server I think), but the other servers, like MWEB, seem to have it such that each map is played twice in a row, where you spawn on one end, then the next round you spawn on the opposite.

The game is awesome! I'm sure the lag probs will be sorted out in time. This isn't like COD where you pretty much swap to the next one every 12 months, this games gonna be played for years, so they're definitely going to get it right :)

Oh yeah, I know someone posted this before, but if you've been playing since the 24th - with the IP trick, then you should right click the game in origin and click repair install - It "looks" like its re-downloading the game, but it actually just verifies the files and takes like 3 minutes, then afterwards it downloads a 48mb patch. This solved some crashing issues for me.

Also, update punkbuster if you get a "kicked by admin" problem often (meaning you weren't actually kicked).

EA, you are seriously ticking me off...

Battlefield 3 arrived today... I clawed at the casing and slammed the disc into my dvd-rom. What followed was nothing short of absolute and utter confusion and unnecessary bullsh**. Here's the blow-by-blow breakdown of my evening thus far.

After I'd finally gotten the game to install from disc (much harder than it sounds), I had to sit through a painful 400MB update.

I ran the game and noticed that there's no longer an in-game server browser.
I have to use the BattleLog service to join multiplayer games. No problem, let me install their browser plug-in and get on with it.

Next, the plug-in tells me I haven't installed the game *sigh*. I refresh the browser and restart Origin.
Now the plug-in tells me there's an update... the one I just installed. I can't join games until the update I just installed is installed. Confusing? Very.

So, I've now done a repair installation of the game, and am re-downloading the aforementioned 400MB update.

This is a pointless rant I know, but you pay for a game and you expect not to have to jump through hoops like a circus animal just to get it to work.

Sincerely,

Guy who really wants to play BF3

I agree that Origin sucks, but surely you knew about the server browser?

@killa yeah know what you mean... and sad story, that server I was banned from, was actually pretty lag free :(

will be on the hunt now for alternative, but you can see even in the server browser by doing a test of refreshing the list say 5 times, with few second intervals, how pings tend to spike.

toe those moaning about Battlelog and what the game is like, did you bother to test BETA?

if not, stop moaning. BETA is there for reason and if you didn't want to try it, your loss.

no refunds for being anal about testing a BETA.

Xcuse me but FU & your beta. You buy a car without participating in the beta so why should a beta be compulsory when buying a game?
I got my copy for the first time yesterday and I don't like the brower idea for the simple fact that I have about 150 tabs saved between session as I use my brower for lots of other stuff too.
In fact some of us use our pc for way more than just gaming & facebook & I cannot see the advantage over a proper in-game browser.
Sometimes I'm busy developing & want to pop off a game during a break. I would prefer my gaming session to leave my developing session alone.

The lack of an in-game browser shows they skimped on development. That is all. Twat!

I have to agree with a few people... the installation and setup of Battlefield 3 was heavy!

I feel sorry for someone who is not as computer literate as me... they'd be confused as hell!

Having not been exposed to the beta, I didn't realize that an in-browser component was their strategy going forward. Honestly, I have no issues with it, but I do expect Origin and BattleLog to get the story straight between the two of them.

lol, did you read I think it was the next post of mine??

besides, do you buy a car before doing your research on it?

I think if you could be involved in the BETA of actually making a car, then hell every1 would jump at it.

k so just curious: when you play a game, what happens to your browser?

Getting regular disconnects.

I am not disappointed, game is excellent. Bugs will get sorted.

If the installer is slow, disable your network card - man oh man mine went fast when I did that.

Once you done installing the game, you'll need to apply the 500MB patch (1st one) and then another 50MB Origin update.

Keep battlelog and KILL origin

If anyone has the standard edition and wants the DLC, gimme a shout. BT Games ****ed up and sent me 2 codes via SMS.

R100 gets you the code.
