Battlefield 3

I'm pretty sure I wasn't stuck on anything, but I think it might have to do with my gfx card not being able to keep up, and rendering slower than it should. So the 'stutter' is the rendering getting bottlenecked or something. Hopefully won't have this issue when I invest in a new gfx card at month end.

But then again I didn't look down, so it could've been one of those aweh bush snipers, you know, pofadder style :D

Dude bunny hoping is the only way to ensure you never get stuck on random shyte, plus you can avoid dying by claymore if you can like to act like da bunny :p

I tried bunny hopping everywhere, but it feels even laggier then, almost like I'm a Twak-Fiend, trying to escape the police while I have a lawnchair wrapped around my kop :/.

The first time I jumped into a chopper on BC2 I killed my whole squad... :D I wasn't very popular. But where/when are you supposed to learn?

At least now I can hold my own... ;)

Problem is I don't think my graphics card will be able to handle it. I've got a GTS 250 1Gb DDR3.
Core i-5 2.8ghz and 4gb RAM. What do you guys think? Will I be able to play it? I know it won't be eye candy, but will I be able to run it?

I run a core-i3 530 4 gigs ram hd4850 and get (mostly) playable fps using low settings on 1280x720. On the older maps I get 30+ fps, while on B2K I do sometimes go as low as 15 on the 64 man maps.

Just waiting till March and then I'll get a new card.

Hmmm what settings are you using? Seems very low. You should be getting more FPS surely.

Literally everything is on low.

It's only the 64 man maps that tend to chug. On 32 man or 24 man I get an extra 10, usually more, fps. And I can't complain too much, as when I play properly (and don't just spend the whole time flying choppers) I can usually place pretty high in a single game, and my overall stats reflect this (excluding clan stacked games). I also know having a "handicap" isn't necessarily a bad thing since you play better when the playing field is even.

Completely off topic: I used to play CS on 56k when everyone was on ISDN, and I used to do OK. Never the best, but never the worst. Then I would go to lans and rip the hell out of people. Okes knew I didn't score that well online so they would come and watch over my shoulder to see if I was cheating. I had to constantly remind people that I have 200 ping when I play online, when everyone else had 50-100.

Back on topic: I did some checking up and it's in line with what I should be getting, as my poor 4850 is 4 years old now. The 7770/7750 releases in the US tomorrow, and depending on speed/price, I'll probably pick it up. I might get a 7850 if it only requires a 6 pin power connector, and if it's not too expensive (I.E. max R2500). I also don't feel like upgrading my PSU just for my graphics card.

Am trying to be really good and hold out until March when my birthday rolls around, but I might just cave and get the 7770 if it's good enough.

There are some unranked servers that can be used for training.

Just yesterday I saw a guy go straight for the chopper, climb in and take off immediately (even though I was running towards him to get in the gunner seat) and crash it in under 5 seconds. With hindsight, I'm glad I didn't make it to the chopper in time. :)

Personally, I think that a new heli pilot should at least get the basics of flying sorted in an unranked training server before flying in ranked servers. They don't have to be the best pilots, but they should be able to fly without crashing into things needlessly.

Didn't know that. Would have been beneficial a while ago.

But I must say that flying in a chopper without someone locking on to you, or even just shooting at you isn't the same. You will think to yourself "okay cool, I got the hang of this" and then as soon as someone starts shooting in your direction you panic and do the wrong thing. Even now while trying to get rid of pesky soflam pings I do all kinds of evasive manoeuvers only to see that the heli/jet doesn't like what I am doing. Then it takes some doing trying to keep it in the air.... :D

More than once I have had a gunner bail out of a perfectly good chopper because he thought I was going to lose it... LOL.

worse is when you're the gunner and the pilot just disappears, you have to quickly change seats and recover
