Battlefield 4 review

As a console gamer I will get this next year with my PS4.

GTA V is keeping me busy and should carry me through till then.
 
played last night , but no one wa son the s.a server , and eu servers had to much lagg to play it nicely!!

It is really epic!!
 
Played it and was really disappointed.

This isn't BF4, its BF3.1

Minor improvements, not even game-play improvements, just some gimmicks to make you think you got extra.

R485 for some gimmicks and extra maps? No thanks.

I defended point C in the beta and it felt exactly like BF3, no difference, still killed everyone the same way etc

I'll wait and see if my friends adopt it... Too busy with ARMA3 wasteland and GTA to really care. I also really struggled with the beta, couldn't get into servers, when I did it crashed between maps.

No really, just look at it outside the hype, check whats the difference, Plants vs Zombies 2 has MAJOR improvements from the previous game, and still keeps the core game play the same.

Yeah you can't compare them directly, the one is a plat-former, the other a AAA 3D game with 'advance graphics' (which btw, look THE SAME AS BF3's)

Its not worth the R485 PREORDER price tag. I really enjoy the BF series, but this time its exactly like CoD and Activision; bring up new released without any innovation.

I know this sounds extreme, but if you buy this game you will be doing the game community an injustice, they are ripping us off buy releasing the same game as 2 years ago with some more maps (sounds like an expansion tbh)

Actually its R400 to pre order. R485 for the digital deluxe version.

Definitely what I believe this game to be. But they are making a nice habit of releasing only maps at huge profit gains.

I can guarantee that this game wont be as popular as BF3 at first. Checking back to the beta of both games, bf3 was certainly more busy on the servers, and later when it released, it was super busy, I mean, we had a hard time finding any servers available to join.

This time round, maybe 2-3 servers will be full, the rest, empty husks. After 2-3 months, people would have moved on.

Guess I'm pretty disappointed at BF4, more so then most of my friends. I even thought out some great game play mechanics which they could have easily added (such as dragging injured team mates away from harm, or allowing you to climb over walls and against structures, almost like tomb raider, jumping to grab window ledges etc).

That is even worse! You basically look like an idiot if you DONT order the R485 deluxe edition!(Pfft 'deluxe', who are they kidding) Do we really need to fall for such obvious market ploys that takes our intelligence for granted?! (Or lack of it!)

It doesn't only sound extreme, it is extreme. And laughable.

An expansion where basically any structure is destructible, weather changes iow maps that completely change during the course of a round, commander mode, and there is probably more. That's what I could get just from a 5 min review.

This is an FPS not an MMO, where they will introduce changes on that scale in an expansion (which would btw also cost R300+) , in FPS' this is how it's done.

Oooh a fellow Wastelander... Yeah didn't follow the sheep and get BF4, didn't sink too many hours in BF 3 like I have with other games so going to skip this one till it goes on special.

Good foresight, my feelings are so the same.Then when your done they take your copy away so you cant use except for single player.

As I said, BF4 is franchise milkage. They should have gone for a change of setting, but they didn't because it's easier to just make yet another modern warfare title that the masses are going to lap up. Sure, there are lots of new things in BF4, but it's mostly gimmicks and the core game is basically BF3.5 all over again.

As someone who tired of BF3 in less than a year, I'm skipping BF4 simply because I don't want to play BF3 all over again.
 
Haven't played it yet (waiting to collect it over the weekend), but I will say one thing- there a lot more (bad) people playing BF3 on console again, must be in preparation.

I've only recently started playing BF3 a few months again, but thoroughly enjoy playing it online (with friends) it's a lot of fun and I can't wait for BF4 :D

Erm, you are wrong, the structures have the same destructibility as BF3, even worse, they have scripted almost all of the "revolutionary" map changes :sick: which means, next time you play it, the building will collapse, the same it did the previous time, it will fall down the same, again, and again, and again, and again, and again....

Maybe you should play it first before commenting.

If you accept that this is how's its done, then they have already won, and your expectations are so low; even I will be able to sell you anything, even a polished turd.

So you neglect to mention any of the actual new features while claiming nothing is new.

Let's see why this game is worth the R404.00 download off Origin:

-Commander mode
-Spectator mode
-Many new game modes, the little I saw of Obliteration was amazing in the beta, as well as more competitive-oriented modes. This is great because the South African BF3 competitive community is thriving, and to have the developers catering to our needs is excellent in a sequel
-In-game VOIP
-A third faction with its own vehicles
-Many new weapons and vehicles, with many mechanics tweaks to differentiate them from BF3 and allow different balancing options
-Redesigned damage modelling for vehicles, with greater tactical depth (mobility disables and different critical damage levels)
-5-man squads
-Completely new squad field upgrade system
-Revamped experience and unlock progression
-Swimming underwater with ability to fight in that state (this is on the level of your "Tomb Raider unrealistic parkour wall-climbing")
-A "firing range" feature that was much-requested in BF3 where you can try out all the weapons and train to use the vehicles
-A whole new campaign. Now this is not what I buy the game for, but the game has a full feature set of both singleplayer story and a highly refined, improved and expanded multiplayer


About the "oh noes it's still modern warfare, nothing new". Well to be honest most people like using authentic weaponry and to play in a setting they can relate to. I would have skipped BF4 if it went the futuristic route.

To me, it's well worth it. If it's not to you, well damn I hope you have some good ideas of how to improve the genre. Maybe try out Titanfall, that seems like it might be decent. But don't go sh*tting on fans of the game because you feel that your "seeing the truth" makes you entitled to basically insult people about a game.
