Battlefield 6 - Official Thread

Ok so who all in here is PS5 and will be jamming? I know it's cross play but sometimes you just need a break from the M&K sweaty's you know 😂

I reckon we're looking at R800.

Bf1 was R650
Hmm... I'm having second thoughts about the Phantom Edition, it's quite pricey and seems we are getting ripped off in ZA.

R1199.95 vs R1899.95 which is 58% more expensive for the Phantom Edition.

In USD it's only 42.8% more expensive. $69.99 vs $99.99.

It would be nice to know what the battlepass is going to cost, apparently this uniform is what comes with the BF Pro Token via the Phantom Edition.

Horrendous matchmaking aside

The gameplay was so damn good

Matchmaking was my biggest gripe. Having to find a new match after each round was a pain.

Will we be able to buy the battlepass via Steam, or how has it worked in the past?

They'll release it as a separate purchase. I got the base edition as a gift and plan on buying it to get all the phantom edition addons.

I actually didn't mind this. Battlefields biggest problem is always stacked teams and this helped somewhat.

So I need to decide if I am buying at launch. Beta was promising and most importantly the boys are hyped so good times ahead.

R1200 stings though. Yes, Rand per hour will still be very low but R1000 is a bit of a mind barrier for me. I found this useful from ChatGPT:

Here’s a quick summary of when the Battlefield games first went on sale (discounted) compared to release:

  • Battlefield 2042
    • Release: 19 Nov 2021
    • First discount: mid-Dec 2021 (about 3–4 weeks later, 34% off on Steam)
  • Battlefield V
    • Release: 20 Nov 2018
    • First discount: ~5 Dec 2018 (about 2 weeks later, 50% off for BF veterans)
  • Battlefield 1
    • Release: 21 Oct 2016
    • First discount: already 20% off during pre-order (before launch)
  • Battlefield 4
    • Release: 29 Oct 2013
    • First discount: Nov 2013 Black Friday sales (about 1 month later, ~50% off at major retailers)

So: BF1 had discounts even before launch, BFV within 2 weeks, BF4 in about a month, and BF2042 in about a month.

It may be worth waiting a month for teething problems to get ironed out and saving some $. Only con is missing out on the hype train.

@Brawler I may be wrong but my thinking is circumstances are different to what has transpired in the past, how good was the reception to the previous releases (e.g. BF2042 was disasterous). I didn't buy any of the previous releases of BF you mentioned upon launch, I took quite a hiatus from BF over the last decade or so.

Perhaps black friday has the chance to get BF6 at a discount, but I suppose it will depend on how good sales are at that point?

In terms of buying at launch, if there's a chance you might do that why not pre-order, then with the 2 hour play time refund in mind don't play the game until the reviews are positive, wait a few days and then refund it if the reviews are negative.

AI Overview:
Steam offers a generous refund policy, generally allowing you to request a refund for games and software if the request is made within 14 days of purchase and you've played for less than two hours. You can request refunds for various content, including games, pre-orders, DLC, in-game purchases, and unredeemed gifts. To request a refund, go to the Steam Support website, log in, find your purchase, and follow the instructions to submit your request. Refunds are processed within a week and can be issued to your Steam Wallet or original payment method.

edit: In terms of the hefty price tag, though I got burnt with COD MW2 (2022) at R 1,379.00, I am only buying about one game per year. I have such a backlog of older games to play it's now such a rare occurrence for me to buy anything really.

edit2: Disclaimer: I am not sure if hours spent playing the Beta count towards the 2-hour limit with the refund policy.
