Anyone know when this will be released? I'm getting conflicting messages from their official website and the forums there.

The official site says it will be released in "Summer 2008" - Now if
EA headquarters is located in Redwood City, California; that means it should have been released by July?

But also heard some rumours on forums saying the release has been delayed and will released in Dec only:confused::mad:
 
I saw stories online that the game was delayed yes.

I'd say a month or 2.

I'm thinking they want to release the game near Christmas...
 
Beta Download

The download status window lies, the Updater program is barely 1MB and the actual download is probably just over 200MB in total. I got my beta key this morning and it took around 2 hours to install on my DSL384 line.

The game has potential but needs lots more polish. I suppose thats why its still in beta 6 months after its intended release date. And of course, there's serious lag playing from here in Telkom land. :(
 
I have heard it sucks because people buy stuff with their credit cards and are near impossible to kill unless you have also spent dollars buying stuff.
 
As soon as I click on the beta key icon I get - You are not authorized to access this page :(

Nonsense. The game does have what they call "BattleFunds" which are only purchasable via Credit Card, however according to the faq on the beta website , these funds ( and the gameplay supports this from what I've played ) will only allow you to purchase customisable features ie: clothing etc.
The one pain that does irratate is that you can buy a "widgit" that allows you to gain 200% the experiance you would normally. So basically , if you pay, you get pretty cloathes and a slight boost in the fact that you level up twice as fast as non paying people.

BTW: I got 3 chars -> one of each profession with a gunner on lvl 7 , commando on lvl6 and a soldier on lvl3.

Also they encorporate a form of load balancing and try and put you in games where people have the same skill level.

I'm enjoying it very much. Buggy but fun.

Servers are a bit laggy tho, hope SGS releases a dedicated server once the full version gets released!
 
I have been dying to get a key, but did not get it first time round. Also now that keys seem to be flying around, my ADSL is down (due to a telkom delay). I just can't get a break :mad:
