Bay firefighters robbed at gunpoint

Choppers gone quiet again. I wonder if they are refuelling, or whether or not the fire is dying down? I am hoping for the latter for everyone's sake.

Took a jog to Fernglen earlier. Wife was there later and took some pics. You can see she is a professional.

The residents stay next to the nature preserve. They have apparently previously appealed to the municipality to have the grass cut as a method of fire prevention, but they were advised of red tape as it is protected.

The okes tuned her that they just went ahead and did it themselves when this happened.

I wonder if the municipality will change their tune after this incident. It's all good and well to try and preserve nature where you can, but maybe they should look at implementing firebreaks around the area instead.

As an aside, I wonder how the logistics/legal matters are handled when it comes to things like the helicopter that is taking water from the quarry. I would imagine there are some hastily-drafted documents in order to secure the body of water for emergency use, but also liability waivers and such to protect all the parties involved.

I pondered that as well. At least they can't steal your cellphone if you are in a helicopter.
