Goeie donner... how did I miss this!! jissis

Anyways, I have had a bigger issue.

Stop at a garage, tune the dude "fill up, 93" dude fills up... for once, I actually look over to the pump when he's done and fetching the card machine, and I think to myself "this dude didn't even fill up my tank, only 45L instead of 55L" or something like that. Came to about R640.

Give him my card, and he does his thing, hands me the terminal to enter my pin... and I look at the amount displayed on the terminal R740! Fscker loaded an extra R100. I correct him and all he says is "o sorry" and redo the transaction. How often have a never even looked at the pump and just signed... I'm going fill up again at the same garage and see if it happens again.

Garage on the corner of Rivonia and South rd.

That's why I tell them to put in R400 or whatever.. Never just tell them to fill up. Or, if you really want to fsck with them, tell them to put in 11.53 litres.

*little old lady voice

It all adds up you know. Take care of the penny's and the pounds will take care of themselves. In my day...
Aha...

I have this habit of asking which pump they pumping with. I go into the shop and buy stuff, Monster or what ever and pay at the till before I leave the shop. Show the attendant the slip and off I go. One day dude tells me it's pump #7. All good, I bought something and paid for the fuel on pump 7 and the items. I got back to the car and for some reason decided to check the fuel added. I paid for the wrong fk'ng pump. Over paid by about R 200.00. Asked the dude "wtf?!?" He then said but I paid for the wrong pump... HE TOLD ME PUMP 7. Went into the shop, he argues with the cashier and after about 10 minutes they pay me the difference in cash...

I was so annoyed.

And now imagine if a pump is miscalculated by just 10 ml of petrol per liter.

Fuel does not like to be a liquid, it wants to be a gas.
If you fill up during the day, go walk outside and look at the fumes coming off the pump when the guy is filling it, You are paying for those escaped fumes. You are prob loosing a heck of alot more than 10ml...

Fill up at night or when its really cold.

How old is you car?

Since 1998, automakers are according to regulations required to install tanks which prevents gas escaping. The nozzles are also adapted to be utilised with these tanks. Go Google and you will have your answers.

Only really old cars and old service stations are a risk in this case.

Yeah most decent places round in favour of the customer...often heavily (e.g 5c) because its cheaper to take the hit than mess with small change.
