Bed in a box?

Serta Pillow top beds are nicest, unless you can afford a decent Simmons individual pocket spring. But I prefer Serta even above the Simmons or Tempur beds.

I would suggest rather to get a mattress base, buy something with drawers below it. It works better.

For kids beds look at the one that supports the slide out mattress, compared to a bunk bed (I know many kids that's broken an arm or leg due to a bunk bed. ) But the slide out is nice for friends or even family staying over.

From what I recall, I think that Sloom was the only bed in a box that let you adjust the firmness. That might be a factor if you and your partner have different preferences

Simmons have individual pocket spring beds. Remember that bowling ball ad, where the one is sleeping and you bounce the bowling ball on the other side. My kids use Simmons beds, and they really love them.

I had a pricy "Simmons Crescendo Memory Foam on Coil" mattress (15k new for the mattress alone) which didn't agree with my back. Got a sloom about a year ago and it works well for me.

It's really just 3 different thickness rubbery/memory foamy "mats" that you can shuffle around (soft/med/hard) and it's split in two so half the bed can be one and the other half the other. You can't feel the gap between and over time it does not shift apart at all (zips into a cover quite tightly).

Just for shytes and giggles, I'm raising this one from the dead again....

Looking at a new bed/mattress in the near future, and was wondering about any personal experiences with Sloom etc type mattresses....
Have a sloom. Great quality and super comfy. Added bonus that you can adjust the firmness to your liking.

I bought a Cloud Nine last year. The TravelFlex, softest of the lot.
Some mornings I wake up and feel like I had the best sleep ever, some nights I question my decision as the mattress still feels too hard for me, but this is usually when my mind is stuck in analysis paralysis of some other problems in life.

We have a Sloom King size. Very happy with it. On the bigger mattresses, each side can adjusted to your needs. My side is firm Andy wife prefers a softer mattress. It’s also much cheaper than a conventional mattress.

Also, there’s a code on the Sloom site for 10% off your purchase
Still happy with your Sloom mattress ?

Standard King ? Im assuming you had a traditional mattress of some sort prior to sloom and that the migration to foam was fairly manageable in the first 100 days and pilot phase ?

What if you are only one person sleeping in the bed? Do you end up sleeping on one side, rather than in the middle? I'd worry that you might slip through the gap between the mats... Is it really that tight?

(back in the market for a mattress... For a single older lady this time)

It's never been an issue. I've only slept on it alone a few times but it's not like im confined to my corner of the bed either. It is very tight between. You can find the division if you push to find it of course

Thanks for the response. I love the idea of it. I'd have pulled the trigger already if I was going to be the one sleeping on it. I guess if it turns out to be terrible, there is that 100 day exchange thing, right?

Yep that's what they say, im still happy with it

By way of update, I went with the Sloom double mattress. It arrived in a relatively small (but heavy) and long box.

Unpacking it was fun, watching it unfurl and "inflate" from its vacuum packaging.

So far, very comfy.

Would recommend.

Proudly South African brand, as well.

Hi All
From reading the Sloom reviews here and online i am quite sold so ordered a Sloom queen yesterday. I do suffer with quite severe back pain and need a firmer mattress. I'm quite keen to test out the firmness options.

Quick question for those who have owned a Sloom for quite sometime:
Have you noticed any indentations or degradation of the materials?
Are you still happy with the mattress?

Thanks
B
