Hi all, I have no grass or garden whatsoever and I want to plant something anything maybe peppadews. I heard that you can use old tires fill them with ground and plant inside them.
Anyone have experience with this?
I heard that trick for growing potatoes from fmaily members who did it (...many moons ago):Hi all, I have no grass or garden whatsoever and I want to plant something anything maybe peppadews. I heard that you can use old tires fill them with ground and plant inside them.

I would strongly advise against tires. Use 20l plastic containers, the one's that paint is used for.
You get them at plastic warehouses, and you can easily grow tomatoes and peppers in it,plenty of youtube videos about it.
Any gardeners here affected by the water restrictions?
I had to clear my whole vegetable patch. Love gardening but not so much that I will water it with a bucket.
We are still under water restrictions in Gauteng. I water with a watering can... Never needed more than 2 cans of water, but my garden is still very small scale.Any gardeners here affected by the water restrictions?

Yes,i'm on the bucket lol. Only have tomatoes going now,so i water them by the hand with a cup. Trying to save water and do my part. You will be surprised how little water is used when u hand water,it takes a lil more effort, but hey it's always worth it. No store bought tomato compares to what you grow yourself, way worth the effort for me.Any gardeners here affected by the water restrictions?

Try the self-watering trick I mentioned in my previous posts... it's quite cheap and it's really working for me.Gave up vegetable gardening at the beginning of this drought. Still have herbs in pots though.

I didn't mean it in a rude way at all,was thinking we should have an official thread for all our green thumbs to chat in.
