There are often questions in the android threads that have been answered a lot of times. I thought that maybe we could start a "Beginners Guide" series of threads, that when one of the FAQ pops up, we can just direct the n00b to the appropriate thread. Maybe when we have a couple of these beginner threads, we can sticky an index (hopefully this one) to the Android sub forum.

With that in mind, let's start the list:

Index:
1. BG #1 - Flashing Official Samsung Firmware
2. BG #2 - How to get rid, as far as possible, of Samsung/Operator bloat, without rooting
3. ...

If you guys have any ideas on beginners guides we could do, let me know, or start one, and I'll happily add it to the index above.

Use the F, instead of the D!

But I know you want the D, ammarite? :p

It was actually a serious question :(
Was told something about swiftkey but I don't explore my phone enough to know where to find it. And yes. My phone knows duck and ducking. But it doesn't know sucking or either of those f-words

Try this:
1. Open the swiftkey app
2. Advanced
3. Clear data on this device

Nice thread. Well done Fanie. Now for a new thread suggestion: Upgrade from iphone to Android for dummies. :)

I've tried looking last night to get a generic guide together for Cyanogenmod, but it seems impossible. There are no solid standard rooting methods, and one really needs to dive into XDA to find the most suitable and/or popular method to do it.

>sad panda is sad

Anything else?

Added another guide: (OP updated)

BG #2 - How to get rid, as far as possible, of Samsung/Operator bloat, without rooting

Might be silly for some, but not everybody is an expert like you ;)
