Behind the struggle to change Telkom

More Hilton Tarrant pro-Telkom drivel. It is not even informative drivel.

Brownest nose in the game.

TELKOM hold all the aces and legally so. Until that changes I find it very rich that these two gents spew all this rah rah nonsense.
The playing field is far from level and only when it is equal will their words really mean anything.
Right now though its all just spit and polish for investors.

But yet, there is all the history, all the unkept promises, tons of baggage.
Why believe anything they spew now all of a sudden?

Competition and management

Matthyser offers a straightforward perspective on the licensing of a second operator. He says the introduction of Neotel will make the expectations of South Africans "far more realistic" when it comes to pricing, rollout and service.

He says up until now, South Africans have wanted the "US standard" at "Brazilian prices". Neotel, he says, will offer a yardstick.

They want to charge Neotel a min 75c connection fee then 65c a unit. Of course neotel is going to have problems! Telkom are using unfair market practices again :(

mmm- what services do the Brazilians offer?

No, I do not want US standard. I want DECENT f-ing internet that does not cost an arm and a leg. (And a nine month waiting period  )

No actually,we just want international standards at international prices....or is that always too much to ask for?

Well I know the Brazilians get better service delivery. Person I spoke to said her parents in Sao Paolo got their ADSL the next day :D

I just accepted a job with BCX (Well, their with European division actually).
Going to be weird to work for Telkom

rikus........reminds me of a song...reprinted here by kind permission

(to the tune of "rudolf the rednosed reindeer...")

there was sizwe and papi and lulu and stevie
reuben, belinda, oupa and pinkie
but do you recall
the most famous fibber of all....

rikus the telkom spokesman
had a very shiny nose
and when he tells his fibbies
you should see how much it grows

all of the broadband users
used to laugh and call him names
that's cos they were abusers
sitting round and playing games

then one IC gauteng eve
rpm came to say
rikus with your nose so long
its time to sing another song

then all the broadband users
danced around and sang with glee
rikus the telkom spokesman
you'll go down in infamy

Rofl, we should send him some Reprogel as well to ease the pain in his arm joints from patting his own back so much.

Actually, bizarrely, these are the rates Telkom will be charging customers to call TO Neotel, not what Telkom will be charging Neotel to terminate calls on the Telkom network.

It's got everybody somewhat perplexed, unless it's so that people will tell their friends "Don't go to Neotel, I won't be able to call you anymore!"
