Being mocked for having solar.

didnt read your original comment .but yes i agree with heating and batteries if that was the question
 
There are bigger things to worry about other than your self confidence or ego. If things get really bad over the winter time all the solar in the world won't put food on the shelves.

Angry masses will just take your stuff including your setup

I feel loadshedding more in summer, sweat my balls off when there's load shedding, the worst is when I get load shedding in the middle of the night, I break covered in sweat and it's only cool enough to go back to sleep when the power comes back. In winter I sleep through the night.

The people I say that to normally earn more than I do. So I feel zip for them.

As for the factory staff, I am the one they come to for solutions. I even bought chargers for those that have simple solutions.

As it stands now I have 4x 12V's sitting in my office on charge for them.

Most of these people drive vehicles worth in excess of over 750k but will not spend 110k or more on a backup system that ultimately reduces eksdom dependance.
They don't even flinch spending 100k extra on a more expensive vehicle that drinks fuel like my Alcoholic Step brother consumes beer.

Some of these "Mockers" even use my study as a mobile office when the power is out.

Anyone on here that had solar installed last year experience the same ?

Surely you are having the last laugh now ?

I'd happily have that kind of mocking, then every time you hear complaints of no power you can make snarky suggestions about looking into "going solar"

As I said, for the most part it is people with false hope. A section of the dissenters will be a group which can be categorically jealous. People are people, but the far majority of people are looking for a means of energy continuity in whatever form they can find it. Self-generation is not available to all people.

Since it is Monday, I guess those who can relate with you, may start their threads at will.

in the early 90s i ran an automotive service centre ,we had big banks of 12v chargers ,the location residents used to drop off batteries in the morning to get charged and collect them late afternoon or from security ,nothing has changed in 30 years has it ?.

I had a few people tell me the same. I write a lot of it down to jealousy, maybe some controlling attitude.

I like to think its the same reason i often get the "shame man, you're still single. It must be hard, how are you coping?" and/or followed by "you know were weren't meant to be alone, is there something we (the couple) can do to help?"
