Being mocked for having solar.

If I were one of your friends I would put the kettle on while its load shedding

I solved that one - I'm 40m off sea level. Almost everyone is downhill from me. I uh, give a ****?
Water - add jojo's, busy on that. 25KL installed soon, plan to add more
Power - well, I'm off grid, so that ones solved for several years already.


Main loadshedding issues - you can't buy meat from the local stores [woolies/checkers/pnp/fruit pedo] as its potentially mif.

Being mocked for solar is about as dumb as being mocked for having an iphone. If you can afford it, do it. None of there poor ass business to be honest.

Not really.

Margins are pretty tight on panels, although batteries still have some margin. Most of the price increases are due to the rand devaluing, not greed.

Only fairly recently, wasn't the case over a year ago. And the whole NRS solar registration thing didn't exist like two years ago, before the words "sunsynk" or "hubble" even started doing the rounds, so now everyone who has a solar system installed before then that don't have their inverter listed in that list is basically "non-compliant".

It was always the case. You could finance it through your bond like you would for any home renovation. Even over a year ago there were finance options offered through some solar companies...

Oddly enough I just had to run Air fryer twice just to make more chips and it is load shedding.
It was raining and overcast in Durbanville but so far managed to generate 15.4 kWh

I did it a just over 2 years back
A year back it was more obvious.

I didn't get that much ribbing. A little at which point I said. I did my sums and Quality of Life Calculation.
Have you done yours?

Anyway , I have given tons of advise to new users... who have avoided the couple of mistakes I made (fortunately not many)

A couple have argued the genie is better argument...
CAPEX is less. Running cost os much higher and they are noisy.
But each to their own

My system went in more than 2 years ago and certainly in Cape Town the list has changed somewhat. A lot has been added but some have also been removed. Those guys would now have a problem. CoCT actually made the requirements a bit less restrictive about 2 months before my install. But it was a fight to get the guys on the ground to accept that new document.

The whole NRS certification to be connected to the grid is at least 13 years old in CPT, ask Ryno at CoCT.
 
Do i have the days mixed up. Is Monday the new Friday or did Friday have content shedding stage "delayed by 4 days"

an interesting thing .i was the first person in our neighbourhood to put up an electric fence in 1999 .neighbours driving past allways had something to say if i was outside .( it was more to keep the cats out than anything else ) but now virtually every house has electric fences .
