Hello, I would like to know how the BEngTech degrees by UJ would fare overseas in countries like Canada? What is this degree and the BEngTech honours degree equivalent there? What type of work will I get? I’m a 2nd year civil student and would like to find work there when I graduate with the BengTech(honours). I can’t seem to find anything online for this stuff. I know the nod level is 8 for the honours of BEngTech.

I believe the BEngTech is the new replacement for the BTech as drafted by ECSA. It should therefore have the same accreditation as the BTech which I believe was covered by the Washington and Sydney accord.
There is however a distinction between an engineering technology degree and a regular engineering degree. Most engineering type jobs usually want a proper four year engineering degree BSc(Eng) or BEng. With a BEngTech degree you will most likely be working as a technician and working under the supervision of an engineer although there are the few odd design jobs for technicians here and there.
You are right that a BEngTech with honours is NQF level 8 and a masters is NQF level 9.
If i were you I would transfer into the BEng stream at your university assuming you had good grades ( as the admission committiees usually have a 60% overall GPA requirement)
