The best will be The UK Emporium - BOKSBURG Open To The Public. Monday to Friday 9 to 5. Saturdays & Public Holidays 9 to 2. Tel: 011 826 3917. Fax: 086686 4283. Not far from Benoni. Cetainly a lot closer than Vtown.

I think that the UK Emporium do only "dry" goods, I was in one of their stores in Somerset West a few months back....
What about a German Butcher in Benoni?

The original name was given to a piece of land no one seemed to have wanted called "uitval grond" by a Mr Rissik and the original meaning in the bible is "Son of my Sorrow"
Then Gold was discovered ....
The Benoni Museum well worth a visit (that is if it still exists, been there many years ago).
Astronomically, it is the place where the Benoni Meteorite struck the earth in 1943, weighed 8.62 lbs. 25th July, 1943.

And then of course the string of famous women that were born in Benoni ....
Also some say it where the SACP started and the 1922 miners strike first started ..... ( not sure of these details).

It even has free WiFi now. Was one of the first places to be included in the EMM free wifi in public places rollout.
