After weeks of waiting for Telkom to install a line in my place I've moved into in the CBD, they are going to be installing it on the 9th of June....

Any advice/suggestions to the best uncapped providers?

BuzyBuy, MyISP and Propertiere are cheapest at R149, R159 and R158 respectively, but I don't see much feedback on the forums about them so not sure how reliable, stable their offerings are and how they badly shape connections

Next best is Axxess/Openweb/Afrihost at R196/R196/R197...

Download a bit via news servers so going to give a rough estimate of about 20-40 gigs a month planned usage...

We've been very happy with our 512 Uncapped from Mweb ( now 1Mb) with my father on a Mweb 384 and he has had no complaints or problems.

Hi cyberbob1979

Thank you for the feedback.

Kind regards

MWEB Guy - why are you guys that bit more expensive than most other uncapped offerings?

How much do you download a month on average.
Im looking to jump ship.

I am busy shopping around for uncapped packages, MWEB's website says "SERVER IS TOO BUSY" when i try to go to their ADSL section, guess they won't be getting me as a client.

OpenWeb Gold, easily do 40GB a month (on 384k)

I'm doing about 60gb a month on 384k. Do you think that's acceptable usage on a 384k?

Any ISPs willing to take me on board without shaping me to death??

Never heard OpenWeb put figures on their acceptable use but with Gold you have a number of backbones to choose from to find one that suits your usage patterns. Personally I don't download during daytime in the week so I max out at about 1gig overnight (~8 hours) and about 5-6gigs over weekends so about 40 a month, haven't experienced any slowdown. Might be a different story if you start pushing another 1gig during the day to take you upto 60gigs.

Dare I mention Cybersmart. For an all inclusive R299 you can do 40GB a month. Just have to schedule approx 60% during Nightrider.

We pull at least 100-200 Gb a month at home on the 1Mb line - torrents and online videos and online gaming making up the majority of the downloading.

I've had no speed issues at all with Mweb. Of course, in the day, we don't torrent as the P2P downloads are shaped for business speed - but otherwise, by about 6-7pm - its full speed ahead.

Totally the best ISP I've had for Uncapped.
