Best 4x2 or 4x4 double cab?

Navara seems to be the best big ass 4x4 atm...

The Raider looks like a girly wagon on steroids (even though its prob the most capable 4x4)
The new Isuzu looks good, and prob is good.
Actually beyond the Raider looking like a girly wagon, I think they're all pretty capable and decentish looking. But the Navara just looks the best.

Probably.. I'm not sure what the diesel models are like, but I know the bigger petrol ones drink petrol like theres no tomorrow.

There really is no 'best' when you talking normal bakkies. They are all decent for what they are designed to do. What comes into play is your personal preferences.

I know guys from the Isuzu Off Road club and have been on one or two outings with them. They all swear that the Isuzu KB bakkie is the best 4x4. Then if you ask a group of Toyota or Nissan or Mazda or Ford or Mitsubishi owners they will all tell you the same thing!

But just keep in mind that Nissan really is the best. :p

IMO DC bakkies is the worst of both worlds. I prefer the Station wagon configurations (Jeeps, Land-Rovers etc). More usable space, slightly less loading capacity and much, much better ride on and off-road. I also think that their off-road performance is often much better than the DC configurations.

But if you really want to be confused go to this forum and ask their opinion:D:D:D

If I may don't want to sidetrack the thread but why do you buy a 4x4?

Personally I don't see the benefits of driving one, my friend's got a 4x4, Nissan 3.0L, the thing is slow and it's fuel efficiency is pathetic, not sure why he drives, he just needs to drive around city areas (like just about all people that also drive 4x4's)

Well i have a Nissan 4x4 because I need it. I work in the bush alot and i jet ski so I need it to tow onto the beach. I also do the odd off road excursion.

You must remember you get 4x4s and you get 4x4s. The Land Cruiser and Nissan Patrol SW are better than 4x4 bakkies. Then you get the Unimog and the Gelandenwagen which are in a different league. Then you get modified off roaders that compete in competitions and you wont believe what those are capable of!

the single or double cab 4x4 bakkie is a compromise between creature comforts and on road ability and having the abilty to go off road as well.

In your opinion, what's the best 4x2 or 4x4 double cab?

;)

Depends on what you going to do with it really ? If you going to only drive it on the road then I would go for Mazda's, Fords or Navara if you are going to drive offroad then Toyota , Izuzu or Mitsubishi.

And if you are just plain daft then buy a Nissan Hardbody or Tata.

I think the Navara is one of the worst for reliability - 30 000km on the clutch and its gone! Nissan say its normal wear and tear! I'd never buy one.

As far as why people drive 4x4s... well, believe it or not, may people actually use them for 4x4ing and towing. I use mine mainly for towing a boat :D

Yeh... NissAn's "Hardbody's" are actually quite "soft"...
