Hi again.
It seems my parents' Mibox is faulty.
I need to buy them a new streaming device. They don't have a smart TV.
I have a Amazon Fire stick but don't know if it's gen 2 or 3.
They have an oldish Hyundai led32 HD TV.
What streaming device do you recommend?

I've had 2 Ematic boxes which have been decent. The newer Nova box is about the same price so I would probably go for that if I was buying now.

Also have a Xiaomi Mi Stick which might be an OK cheaper option as the TV you are buying for is HD.

A Mi-Box S 2nd Generation, or Xiaomi Mi 4K TV Streaming Stick.

A 4k MAX Fire TV Streaming Stick 2nd Generation, if Google certification required for DSTV is not a requirement.

No - for the same reason DSTV is not an option. Not for folks who battle with a box, to start with.

If you use Kodi, with the DSTV addon, you good to go, there is also a Showmax Addon, but not sure if it was updated for Showmax 2.

I think they’re 1 year.

Looking at a few solutions online it seems a failed update & I may be able to restore or take to iStore to reset or something.

Tomorrows issue :)

Hope you come right, and get it fixed. Not that I am particularly fond of those devices, but they are rather dear, for what they are.

The other thing is the must be releasing a new one shortly. I’d hate to buy one now and they release a model that can do all the codecs etc

Don't worry they'll keep it updated for years...
