Best Android phone right now?

In SA id say Desire, X10 and Milestone in their different ways e.g Desire specsheet and.most dev support, X10 Media and camera, Milestone has a keyboard and the most powerful graphics engine out of the 3 so like N.O.V.A run on it, depends on what you want though, but getting any of those 3 you won't be disappointed.

The Desire is awesome, i have never seen a phone this good! it is super responsive, sound is crystal clear, plugged headphones into the thing and the sound is rich and there's plenty of bass. I've downloaded a bunch of apps, android market is great! Would just suggest switching off auto sync that eats your data. Wifi works awesome, the screen is super sensitive, doesn't really smudge! Get app killer as your first app on any android phone though! What else, all round it's a magnificent phone! If you have any questions, feel free to ask :D

...also set wifi to never sleep. You could get a shock with the data bill otherwise

Ja that is true, it drains your battery a bit though!

iPhone 4 vs HTC Desire

So i'm not really in the market for a phone but the HTC Desire is kinda whistling at me  :erm:

So decided to compare it against the iPhone 4:

On paper they pretty close. I particularly liked the video recorder
720p@30fps, LED video light, geo-tagging vs WVGA (800x480 pixels) @ 15fps
Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n vs Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g
and the higher res screen..
Then I took a look at the price... I almost fell off my chair!!
Who in their right mind is going to pay R15999 for this damn iPhone~!! :wtf:

LOL...if you hover your mouse over the money signs, you'll get a tooltip saying "about 440 euros", which translates to R4316.44 .

Oops, sorry! I thought you were talking about the HTC Desire.

I don't think you're a very good researcher. In Britain, the iPhone 4 16GB is GBP499, which is just over R5500.

Well obviously I don't live in Britain, so how is that bad research? That was a link to the 32GB version which is more expensive, so I take it you never did your research... When you buy from Britain good luck with your warranty and returns.
I'm not going to scour the world looking for the best price then have to worry about shipping, warranties, returns, customs etc (on any device, not just the iPhone).. We in SA so i looked at SA pricing.. Makes sense?

Ok, wait a second. Let's say you had lots of money, and let's say you were the kind of guy who'd spend ridiculous amounts of money on a phone, right? So you'll pay R16000 for a R5000 phone, so that you can get a warranty?

LMAO, better off buying three iPhones then. Excluding shipping and taxes of course.

Please quote the whole sentence :) and possibly paragraph. You cant just take it out of context. I was not making any comment on the price in Britain or the value of bringing it here.
note your post was over 40 min after my last edit. so there was no ninja edit :p

The point was: we in South Africa so I was comparing SA prices. You cant knock me for being a bad researcher because of that! You should then also compare and quote the HTC's price in Britain, as well as the correct iPhone version! Apples vs Apples!

I didn't take anything out of context at all. The sentence I quoted was "When you buy from Britain good luck with your warranty and returns". That sentence essentially says "you've got no warranty when you buy from Britain", not so?

The fact that you said that right after someone else mentioned that the phone is 5K in Britain implies that you wont buy the phone from Britain because of the lack of warranty, despite the 60%-off price tag.

Not taking anything out of context, dude ;)

This is all irrelevant, though. You and I don't need to be debating over this :) The point here is that the 15K quote for the iPhone is freaking obscene. The end :P
