What is the best Android phone on the market right no?. I want a new phone and I don't want a stupid Ipod with messaging and phoning capabilities or a Nokia.

Nobody ever mentions the Motorola Milestone. Does anyone actually have one?. On paper, the specs look good, almost better than most others, but all we hear is HTC, HTC, HTC.......?

I'd say the best Android phone according to specs is the HTC Desire. I've been waiting for it for over 2 months now, and it finally arrived a week ago. The wait was defintely worth it.. Check out http://www.gsmarena.com/stats.php3 to see stats about which brands/phones are the most popular (by interest / by user rating)

UPDATE: Compare the HTC Desire to the Motorolla Milestone (Droid)

Pretty much the same, except the Milestone has a slide out keyboard, and the Desire has a 1GHZ processor vs 600mhz on the Milestone. Also the Desire is a bit more expensive, but definitely better looking and more stylish, and worth it IMO. I personally don't like slide-out keyboards, and prefer not to have one. The Desire is also slightly thinner.

I find the Desire to have a pretty crappy Loudspeaker. My old N95 and even the 5800 XM gives off awesome sound quality through their dual surround sound speakers. HTC really should have invested more time/money in beefing up the sound quality.

The HTC Incredible is the HTC Desire's slightly bigger brother, with a 8MP camera, bigger on-board disk space, and slightly smaller dimensions, but also a slightly smaller battery.

Check out GSM Arena for more info... Very useful. Actually quite awesome. Best site on the net for cellphone reviews, specs, pics, comparisons...

Better how? The Droid certainly IS a good phone, but it's got a 528Mhz CPU and a crappy slide out keyboard.

Yeah, because they're quick. Not all of them, but there isn't a Motorola locally available that's got a 1Ghz CPU ;)

In terms of GSM, maybe. CDMA it seems to be a different story.
Why would that be an issue for any of us? CDMA is not supported here, so who cares :P

I made the effort to get a Nexus One from the US, and I haven't regretted it for a moment. Been running FroYo for quite a while now without having to root the phone and will get future updates as they roll. I also got the Dock which is very nice. After playing around with the Desire, I definitely prefer the stock Android 2.1 and 2.2 to Sense UI.

If you don't want to get an N1 from the US then I think the Desire is the clear leader in SA.

Sorry to hijack, but can the android OS minimize and maximize between apps like symbian does?

I don't know how symbian does it, but holding down the home button shows recently opened apps. Clicking on one maximises it (or opens it to its previous state).

With Andriod, choosing a fone is easier, you look at the hardware specs, cpu speed, RAM, etc... software is interchangeable...Welcome to freedom :)
