Best Android phone under R3000

The Huawei P1 was my first bet! And I heard they were going for R1999 at Edgards. Where can I get it for that price now?

You will never see that price again. It was a stock clearance promo... Edcon will not stock that phone again.

They are exactly the same it seems but the Sola has NFC & the screen is every so slightly bigger its also R300 more expensive not that bad I guess

The U has no SD Card slot.

what about this?

Ive got one of these and quite happy with it,
2 other people in my office saw me with one and brought themseves one as well,

got everything you could want in a smartphone, GPS/ wi-fi/ BT.
might not be a heavyweight as s3 or as well know as a iphone/blackberry,

even saw a deal going around you can take one on contract and get a LCD tv with it..

maybe might be worth looking into.

Hmm, I saw the Sony xperia u and the xperia go at vodastore for just under and over 3K

How do those compare to the s3 mini
The Sony Xperia Sola is almost identical to the S3 Mini but it has 512mb Ram where the Mini has 1GB for R1000 more

Looks like crap. Screen way too small and low res.

The S3 mini has JellyBean
Sony Xperia Sola has ICS

Eish but is that worth R1000 more (512mb ram vs 1GB & JellyBean)

Yes.

Jelly Bean is completely different from ICS, especially on the Samsung ROMs, and just an absolute joy to use.

Also, there are lots of Samsung service centers scattered all over South Africa, should your dad have a problem with his phone.
