I know a guy who needs AV for three PCs. I was thinking of Kaspersky, worked with it and was surprised. Also a reasonable price and something that a typical non technical person can use. Any other suggestions, I know that trend for example lets you run the software on three machines per license??

AVG works for me............

If you don't mind it deleting critical windows files now and then lol. Avast is also free and I haven't heard of many problems with it, I also think it might be the only free one that scans for rootkits or maybe I'm getting AVs mixed up.

Try NIS 2009 3 user licence, I know Bitdefender and Mcafee also offer something similar. I am using NIS 2009 3 user 2 years.

Go for ZoneAlarm, I think they do a 3PC special. And Zone alarm picks up waaaaay more stuff than AVG.

Must admit, the av definitions update is auto, so thats all cool, but they update the whole app like once every 2-3 months. So that does take at least about 50-70mb to download. The plus is its free while your license is valid and you know they are ontop of new viruses etc with their rapid rate of development.

Avast works fine for me, it does pick up rootkits and updates aren't painfull.

Does the oke really want to pay for AV? Why not recommend a free AV prog and couple that with Spybot? What do you use?

I use Symantec Corporate Edition 9, and SpyBot. I want something that is easy to use, and works OK. Also want to be able to install it on 3 PCs.... Keep in mind that this guy knows NOTHING about IT ;)

A copy of BitDefender comes with 3 licenses.

Just installed Avast, and it looks good - like AV should. I think I will use it. I really cant justify nailing a home user R1 000 for AV when he could use Avast for free??

I just registered the product; will the key work for multiple copies or should I register three times??

If you want better free AV, rather use Avira free version.

BTW for the past 2 weeks Incredibles was running specials, first week NAV 2009 1 user 1 year licence R99, last week was Bitdefender Internet Security 1 user y year R99.
