No one can touch Xavi and Iniesta as a creative midfield pairing at the moment. Scholes is still the best passer of the football in the game... Xabi Alonso comes in a close second, Fabregas third. And Michael Essien has to be the best utility midfielder. Can play holding, wide or just drive forward from a deeper position. Awesome player.

Gerrard and Lampard would also feature on my list as great midfielders but not sure where exactly....:confused::confused:

Disagree 100% about Scholes being the best passer.

Reason why Xavi is the best central midfielder in the world is because he is simply the best passer of a football in the world.

Xavi Hernandez is the best...followed by iniesta...these are the two best midfield pair in the world and no one can question that...
 
What's with the Scholes hatred? You can't say he isn't one of the great midfielders in the world just because you support Barca or Pool.

Xavi doesn't only pass, he runs into space as well. With Iniesta playing alongside him, he can afford to run off the ball into more threatening areas on the pitch. Passing isn't his best asset. But as far as I'm concerned, give Scholes, Xavi and Gerrard (just to make Pool fans happy) a target to hit across field, Scholes will murder all of them on consistency.

Oh, and I would've swapped Gerrard for Xabi but as you all know Xabi isn't in red anymore.

Then again, you all have your own views.:D
 
Scholes is no where near Xavi's level.

No hate dude. Its the truth, in all my years of following football blogs, journols, sites etc I have never ever heard Scholes being the greatest passer in the game.

You often here Gerrard and Xavi being hailed as best passers.

So why did Sven, Capello, the dude after Sven (can't remember his name now) all want Scholes to come out of retirement? Was it for Scholes great hand ball ability? For he's ability to tackle? lmao
