I haven't seen enough of Xavi to comment on that... but scholes thru ball is defence spliting... I'll reserve my judgment until I watch more of xavi - his games for spain haven't been all that, Silva's done more than him in this Confed Cups tho

I suggest you watch Xavi some more. You will quickly realise what all the fuss is about ;)

The man won player of Euro 2009 and man of the match in the Champions Leage final for his passing and defence splitting balls.

Every single attack Barca makes, goes through him.

Maybe he'd atleast learn how to pass a ball to a striker. I'm sure Rooney would be grateful.
 
yeah looks like Carrick gets worse every season..he wasn't so bad 2 seasons ago (he wasn't a Xavi/Gerrard/Iniesta..but he was still a midfielder..now im not so sure what he is!)
 
Personally i think Cesc will out pass gerrad any day of the week!!! Don't watch enough Spanish football to comment on Xavi, Cesc is the best in the english league for me!!

Iniesta was never the main man in the midfield. It was always Xavi. Thats why all Barca supporters made such a big deal last year about Iniesta.

He stepped up big time. He was always in Xavi's shadow. You could never mention Iniesta without mentioning Xavi as well.

You just have to think why Cesc left Barca. He couldnt get into the first team with Xavi and Iniesta there.

Cesc was not half the player at Barca compared to what he is now. Remember he was 16 when he left that place. Pep wouldn't be so keen to get him back if he is going to sit him on the bench :P I will be sad if he goes there though :\

Iniesta and Xavi were not half the players they were back then as well.

Cesc knew he wouldnt/couldnt make the starting line up - thats why he left.

Reason why Pep wants him back is to replace Xavi one day. He is from the youth system so he knows the way Barca plays/thinks.

After all Barca made him.
 
Steve is more of an attacking midfielder than a CM.
