Order directly from Amazon. Thats what I did and was arrived to my door within 2 weeks (there was no stock and estimated wait time was 3-5 weeks for stock to arrive). I see it is in stock now so should get it within a week. total was roughly R1300 including shipping and delivery to my door. Can't beat that price and that was for the latest Roku 3.

Hi WeelzSA

Have just ordered Roku 3 from Amazon.com. Does the power adapter work in SA? I read that it says 110v. Also how do you get the official Android app for the Roku 3, it says not supported in your country.

I only have a 1mb uncapped line so I hope it will work okay??

I always get my deliveries to UK or US, and then get a friend to bring them down.

Am a bit scared of getting stuff directly sent to SA .How does that work with customs?, and don't the postal thieves get their grubby hands on your stuff?

The power adapter does work but you need a universal plug to connect it. I was able to download the official Roku app for my iPhone and it works perfectly. I am not sure how it works on Android tho. I have a UK itunes store setup and have unotelly running so can bypass all the blocks - are you running unotelly or something similar? Are you wanting to watch Netflix ect with the Roku? If you are then you will have to get unotelly or similar product. I am not sure how the streaming will work on 1mb, I have heard people running a 2mb line and can stream fine. I run a 4mb line and have no problems whatsoever.

Which store/supplier on amazon will deliver here?
 
Personally, I think it is better to go through Have2Have. If something goes wrong you have somewhere local to send the unit.
How is warranty handled with Amazon?
 
I got a Boxee Box when it just came out and I'm still using mine with Boxee+ Hacks that I installed tonight.

IMO it looks great and streams every format possible from my NAS...well Boxee was originally created to stream every format you could possibly throw at it and it's true.

My NAS is connected to my main router but the Boxee is wireless bridged to my home network and even over WiFi, even HD stuff streams great. I watch Revision 3 and other "apps" like Ted on it too. It's not the smoothest experience ever but for local playback it's great. I think it's discontinued so if you want one you'll have to look for second hand off eBay or something.

Never the same friend, and sometimes have to wait a month or 2 for someone to fly over. By far not the best way of doing things

Did you get Amazon to deliver here or did you use postboxcourier?

Nevermind. Ordered from Amazon with their shipping now.

Just decided my existing setup will not require a media player after a bit of wiring and tweaking over the weekend.
I have a Samsung smart tv and connected a LAN cable to it. Now it streams all my media from my NAS. So far it's been playing all formats with no buffering like I did whilst using wifi.
Also setup the smart apps to US region and now have Netflix and Hulu apps on the TV. Need to setup unotelly and get me a subscription.

Also connected the optical out from TV to my avr and getting DD/dts from all my streamed media....cool.

If it all runs smoothly I have saved myself at least 1k.

Don't you find the apps on the TV laggy?
I used to use Plex from the Sammy store and after experiencing the quick menu response on the Roku I soon got tired of using Plex on the Sammy.
I now have 2 Rokus with a third on the way. Roku everywhere.

The interface for accessing networked media is smooth and works well.
Haven't tried the Hulu or Netflix apps yet.
Trying to subscribe to Hulu but its refusing my Paypal.

I thought Paypal is the way for Hulu??? Or am i getting confused here?

I know you can get vouchers on eBay too.

Ye - it's smooth but it's bland. :p
It does work very well though as you say. I used it for quite a while.
