Yeah, I know what you mean.

Fortunately the Plex 'hack' disables ATV auto updates and the community usually catches up quite quickly.

PS: Just wish there was a decent live news feed available.
 
Shot. Seems the Roku gets the most votes. I don't have a android tablet, will prob get one soon, but the Roku does look cool.

UnoDNS Premium is $4.99 if you pay monthly, and $3.99 if you take a 1 year subscription (which I believe you pay for in full upfront). UnoDNS Premium however excludes VPN services, which is not needed in any case. The DNS redirect service works perfectly fine.

UnoDNS Gold is $7.99 if you pay monthly, and $4.99 if you take a 1 year subscription. It includes a VPN service.

I run netflix of my ps3, but I guess if you looking for a good netflix, cost effective solution then get a roku or an apple TV. I also have windows 8 installed in my HtPc and use the windows 8 app. Although I find the ps3 to be easier to use. If you looking for a good netflix player I would get a roku
 
I've now got a NowTV box which is great for that service as well as most of the other UK channels and Plex but whats going to be the cheapest way to get netflix on that tv? Chromecast?

If nothing else but streaming netflix then Chrome Cast would be the safest cheapest option.
I would suggest If willing to spend a bit more go for the WD TV live (Or PlaY) but since you got the NowTV Box might be too much stuff?
 
dumb questions , i just watching netflix on pc , no other bells or whistles ( except for the dns hack that hides where im from ) should i have set it to something else ( i did not click on any devices )

Thanks - not really interested in paying more than I have to - this is all for a tv in the guest room. :)

Just remember that you'll always have to have a casting device to push content to the Chromecast, so it's not ideal in every circumstance.

So if I've got this straight - the chromecast basically mimics the functionality of Apple's AirPlay? I've got a nexus7 lying around doing nothing - I presume I could use that to serve content?

Yep, Nexus would be perfect. It works kind of like Airplay but it doesn't rely on the device to actually send the content, all it does is initiate the stream on the Chromecast and the Chromecast does everything from that point.
