Best (fastest) Android phone out there?

Hey Guys,

I recently convinced my friend to move away from BlackBerry and join the Android clan with the Galaxy S3. I set it up for her, and installed some essential apps to get her going.

The S3 is a great phone, very quick, great display and incredibly light. I love its size as well!

I currently have the HTC Sensation, and when compared side by side with the S3, the S3's screen looks very blue, whereas the Sensation's screen looks more normal / white and colours look more accurate. I did some reading on this, and colour accuracy is the inherit disadvantage of the current Super AMOLED display. Still, the S3's display is gorgeous!!!

Anyway, after much playing around with the S3, I'm not convinced it's a major upgrade to my Sensation. I want to upgrade as well, but not convinced on the S3.
Is the HTC One X any better? I know it's screen is more accurate than the S3. Are there any Android devices out there that are better / faster than the S3 or One X at the moment? Or should I just wait for the next generation of devices?

That's not blue.. that's vibrant. The One X is a very impressive device and the one I'd pick.

I have liked HTC since I got my first TyTN II, but love my SGS2.
Play around with the colour settings on the S3, and see if changing the colour from vibrant to dynamic or movie will make a difference.

The sensation is about the same as the S2. I thought about getting the S3, but after playing with it I also thought it would be a waste of my money to upgrade. The HTC one X and S3 has similar performance, so I don't think you will be happy with that either. I am thinking about waiting for the next wave of phones. If I didn't have the S2 already though, I would get the S3.

If memory serves me the best(Speed) currently is the HTC one S

But then I dont think its available in SA?

But if you talking One X vs S3 for the best phone, each has its own pro's and con's
Build quality, Size, battery life and so on.

Dont think you will go wrong picking any of the 2.

Ok. Im a sony freak and fan of note. But after running out of patience waiting for an s3 i took a HTC One X.
This phone is awesome. Lightning fast. The battery life is a little short if you use the phone like an average smartphone user.
Charge every night etc. But really tbh I love this phone and have absolutely no complaints. Oh and check out this phones camera. Immediate photos etc. You literally just keep tapping the screen. Love it!!!

You know Sony doesn't make the S3 right?

I may have your solution ;-)

I also used a sensation and was very pleased, on my upgrade I switched to the Samsung Note N7000. Wow! can't describe my satisfaction. Almost the same specs as the new Samsung S3 but smooth. Choose the white version. It comes with a very cool pouch that replaces the backcover.

I currently have the S2, and am so badly wanting a Note.... To me, the S3/One X isn't that much of an upgrade from the the S2, maybe some extra power and different launchers, but that's about it. I'd be wasting my time and money if I go for a S3, but the Note is really something I'm after like hell...

The One S (dual-core) is considered to be almost as fast as the One X (quad-core). It's good value therefore IMO, aside from the fixed 16Gb memory with no card-slot. A rep from HTC mailed me this morning that the One S is due in SA during mid-July

+1.

I'm going on price and choosing the S3, which is now cheaper. (Also I'm partial to the bigger and removable battery)

If you have a sensation I say, there's no need to upgrade if you're not due. You won't see a HUGE difference in performance. Wait a (<) year and get the next gen.

I say go play with custom roms - its basically like getting a new phone :D

I read that there is the HTC One S ROM for the Sensation with Sence 4.0. I might give that a go. Otherwise I don't think the upgrade in hardware is big enough to justify an upgrade.

I'm keen to see what the Samsung Note 2 will have under its hood! :D

Thats more down to personal perception of the S3. Some may disagree with you, and thats the beauty of buying into any item. You have to make up your own mind, or you will sell yourself short. In saying that, i have the Desire HD, but would do the S3 over the One X. Htc has made a mistake, by following iPhone with no removal battery and no sd slot. That is imo a huge disappointment, as HTC's sense UI is much more polished than that of Samsungs UI.

True that... I'd love to have Sense UI on my phone, but my S2 wouldn't like it.... I also agree that when purchasing a phone, or even a car, it's up to you as the buyer to make up your mind what works for you... I would love an S3, but I honestly can't see the benefits of it over my S2... It's not like when the S2 came out, it was miles ahead of the S1, that's why it was so popular... This is almost like a facelift.... Nothing majorly important has been added, still looks the same, it is basically the same phone with some extra goodies... But, if I had to choose, I'd wait for the Note 2, which is romoured to come out in the 4th quarter of 2012, and according to some reporters, it's dualcore CPU will outperform the S3..... If I had to choose between the One X and S3, strangely I'd go S3, as to me, having watched many videos of the two handsets, the S3 seems more stable, and more rounded than the One X.... But again, I wouldn't climb Table Mountain to get one of these over an S2..... ;)

Hmm, I am actually starting to think that the S3 is getting as over hyped as the iPhone. Still in two minds if I am going to get me one or not - not significantly better than my S2, but I think I might just go the one X route. Just to try something different. I don't really have a problem with the non removable battery and no sd card. Normally one upgrades in less than 2 years in any case, so neither should be a problem. Still don't get my original S's 8 gig full so I don't think I will struggle all that much.

Or maybe the one S is also more than suitable. Non of the premium Android phones should give you any problem though, so just go play with them and see which one you like the most.
