I wasn't talking about the cheetah E's... they were just modified mirage 3's. The cheetah C/D's were much more advanced than the E's once they were launched. Also, the E's never left SA territory as far as i know during the border war, they were on standby in south africa baes only.

Weren't all the cheetahs modified mirages? Looking at the one in the war museum it looks like a mirage. I know the avionics were heavily modified. My favourite fighter jet is the F16 followed by the Mig 35

the cheetah's are basically modified mirages, but the difference between the C and the E is massive. The C version is basically a just the fuselage of the mirage 3, nothing else is the same. I think the one at the museum is a E version if i recall correctly
