Buddy of mine were arguing about which fighter jet would win in a dogfight. I said it would be F22 raptor but he said the F18 is better? Isn't the F18 older and less maneuverable not to mention slower?

The F22 has stealth, so it can do sneaky things on multiple targets.

The F18 is quite good for its generation, but is an old concept. Updated F15 I guess. I also think if the computer dies, it will just drop like a brick.

Okay so the F22 is among the most advanced US aircraft right? Which plane would be able to keep up with it in a dogfight? Maybe the F35?

5 x Sukhoi PAK FA's are in existence and over 500 Sukhoi Su-30's, then there is also the operational Sukhoi Su-35.

That might be all good and dandy, but which one is faster if they're both traveling at 120 kph?

The F-22 with vector thrusting will have far better attack angles than anything the F-18 can accomplish. Not to mention the firing systems which an F-22 pilot can engage by just looking at a target.

The F22 doesn't dogfight. It kills from a very long way away. A harrier jumpjet will cream it in any subsonic dogfight any day.

Sukhoi Su-35, the F35 is still experimental and will most likely go up against the Sukhoi PAK FA.

If I recall correctly the most recent actual "dog fights" in anger were in the Falklands and the Harrier did in deed cream the opposition.

Real war is the only real test. Simulations and computerised dog fights don't count.

F22 and F18? Isn't the Sukhoi Su-35 acknowledged to be the most manoeuvrable fighter?
