Best free applications

moar like the top 10 crapest free apps, except maybe gimp & VLC.

Interesting - I use 3 of the software packages on the list (soon to be 4). Anyone else notice that VLC's taken on some of the Christmas spirit?

Yes. It's a fun thing to do but I'm sure the guys in Saudi Arabia are loving it:D

I can't function in the PC world without :
KMPlayer
Free Download Manager
CCleaner
Faststone Image
GMail
Firefox

I think their usage are 70% of my daily PC time
A Christmas toast to all Freeware companies ;-)

VLC is great . But GOM player is different and I find this app more user friendly.
Blender was used to create an animated movie.
Malwarebytes is great for Malware of course. Its free, paid version allows for scheduled scans(thats all)

How can you say must have and have two browsers? take chrome out! :D

I rate Media Player Classic with the K-Lite Codec pack is much better then VLC
Damn Right

What are you guys smoking ? VlC rapes MPC any day of the week.
Why faf around with codecs and such when you just need VLC.
I've had multiple problems with VLC, picture lagging and refusing to play some files, for example. The only nice thing about I like is the way you can adjust the audio track speed, K-Lite is a dream come true

GOM is an interesting player, I'm using as my 1st backup player

MPC with K-Lite > Gom > VLC

I'm going to have to check out these alternatives to vlc.

But the only download link I founf for MPC was from 2006

dude don't download MPC! download K-lite, MPC comes with that

MPC Home cinema with all the k-lite codecs installed is the only way to go for me I'm afraid. VLC still has issues on my PC, not the least of which is that annoying sound stutter it makes when I pause a video.

I like VLC 'cause it can play incomplete files. Sometimes when a torrent's on around 90%, I open the file and it plays but occasionally stutters. The fantastic thing is that you miss nothing during the stutter. I dunno, if the file is complete enough it can extrapolate what would have been there.

Can your funky programs do that?

Can your awesome programs do that?

MPC with K-Lite does that with out the stutter ;)

I've got too admit that one cool thing is it can make a video play as your desktop wallpaper (a desktop wall video maybe? :D)
