Best FREE internet Security

Lol, AFAIK there is NO such " Best free Inet. Security " Probably the best FREE security solution is " ::-> the distance from your brain to the KB " :D

## ./install ./uninstall ./install -!- b00m :)

Yeah, all internet security packages are commercial with many companies offering one or more component of the package as a free scaled down product.

Get free PC security at http://www.cyberdefender.com
3 in 1. AV/Scam/SPAM. Checks if windows xp firewall is enabled.
Try it & post your comments.

I use Netmeter (from read error) & Netlimeter.
What I did not like is that it would now and again talk to there Server. (could see this via Netlimiter Monitor). I don't like people stealing my data bundle. (That includes you know who)

@GBM has already made some comments.

Eset (of NOD32 fame) have a beta internet security package that is free. Not sure how long it will be free though.

The package integrates the following:
  • Antivirus
  • Personal Firewall
  • Antispyware

It also integrates into Outlook Express (even though the settings specify Outlook) [I don't use Outlook, so not sure what happens in there]. The toolbar that appears in Outlook Express lefts you configure spam settings.

Certainly an impressive product:D

Bitdefender also has a new version Internet security 2008 (V11) available. This also free for download for 30 days.

Haven't tried Bitdefender but Nod32s record speaks for itself;)

The beta version of the Eset Security has a username and password for the updates, so when the real Security suite is ready, you will most probably have to buy a licence ie. new username and password.

I am a Bitdefender user and they offered me a free update to BD IS 2008 for the remainder of my license period. Downloaded it and so far very satisfied. Is has some extras from V10 especially the new "Gamer Mode temporarily modifies protection settings so as to minimize their impact on gaming performance, maintaining a safe, fun gaming experience". Haven't tried the game mode yet though. Otherwise it looks like quite a good piece of software.

The BD Total Security 2008 looks even better with a number of tools included as well as a back-up ability. Just hope it is not going the same road as Norton.....

I moved up fom V10 to 2008 & my system does run much faster even during startup. And I still have it set to scan all files. I am satisfied. BD & Nod32 are running side by side. Never used nod32. Went from Norton, AVG Free & now BD.

I wonder where is TGBM is, he is a great big supporter of BD.

Using Free Comodo Firewall, with McAfee AV Enterprise with System Safety Monitor as my HIPS (anti-keylogger support, low level hard disk access prevention and other cute features). For AntiSpyware just scan with Lavasoft now and again. No problems so far.
I was using a FREE registered version of Tiny Personal Firewall (it can be bought using
TrialPay) but it failed in some leak tests. Comodo AV however is not good as it fails to pick up viruses which McAfee detects.
