Best Gingerbread Custom ROMS

Do it. Buddy at work has the HD and he is not regretting his root for 1 second.

I dont have an issue with temp root to install added software. Its the flashing of a new Rom when we getting 2.3 anyway via OTA.
I rooted and flashed my Normal Desire with CM7 but there I could care less about Warranty, Voiding it on my DHD not gonna happen.

Pretty happy with Americandroid CM7 SD version on my HD2.

Bit of a pain to put it on though.

I've tried to find a good guid to root then install custom but there are just so many. Can someone recommend 1 guide that's step by step?

And what's the difference between the different radios?

Try this originally produced for HD2 but same principles apply
It's what I used to successfully get Android on my HD2 :)

wrt radios, certain Rom's may require specific radios or certain radios will work better with your device.

uhh... installed that MIUI thing to check it out, what a waste, if your a ifoneboy then you'll love this ROM. Not for me...

Anybody tried insert coin?

I have read some good comments

Been using it for months, pre-GB, and now on the latest using CM7 Hboot tables. Brilliant. ;)

So you prefer CM7 to insertcoin?

I am still using oxygen, havent tried CM7, need to check it out

Does the InsertCoin ROM have the incoming call delay?

Not that I've picked up, but it seems to vary considerably from one carrier to another and who knows what else. I haven't encountered any bugs on the current version...

No, no. It's InsertCoin but with the CM Hboot tables... Wouldn't go native Android, not with how polished Sense has become.

I really liked sense. But i have yet to find a rom which gives great battery life.

On oxygen, with mobile data connection on full time and autosync on, i only use on average 15-20% between 07h00 to 20h00 (while i am from home). At home wifi uses quite a bit of battery, but no more then on Sense roms.

If its on desire I'm convinced its a radio issue, not a rom issue

I flashed the latest radio. I think generally wifi is just a battery hog, doesnt matter which rom.

Latest does not mean greatest. I don't know enough, but apparently you need to match the radio with the network setup. To do that you need to test each radio.

Apparently setting the wifi sleep policy to never is best. I know its counter intuitive

So which radio works best on Vodacom (I have a Droided HD2)

Lol. Its what I hear.

I haven't tested yet. But I plan to get all of them into my phone and check.

Spent a weekend in zim with sms roaming, and only lost 50% after 3 days. Taking vids, and pics, odd sms.

Now I understand battery life will obviously improve under these conditions, but 50% is crazy. I'm getting 6 hours, automatic brightness, data on, everything off.

I dont have battery issues with cellphone networks and battery drain, its only on wifi - so i would assume the latest radio is the best - how is one wifi network different to the next they either b g or n?

This is already set on my phone.

Only talking about the network setup, not wifi.
