Best Graphics card out

Not a single one of the results I have show this  edit: missed the overclocked part, my bad :)

Actually the best value multi GPU setup is 2x HD6850, then the HD6870, then only the GTX460 1GB. The two AMD cards also give higher average FPS than the SLI 460.
Have a look here keeping in mind these are the 768mb cards with a marginal OC. I do a P31273 on 850/1700/2000

Hey..

isn't there a 69XX series coming out or something?

so that's what I heard.. and that is a high-end GPU, better than the 6870..

Yes. November 22 is launch day.
Nvidia is going to counter by (paper?) launching a GTX580 1 or 2 weeks before that

Nice. I haven't been able to OC my memory from 900 to 1000MHz yet :(

My results for 3DMark Vantage are here: http://www.phforums.co.za/f45/3d-mark-vantage-scores-34631/index43.html#post808987
2x MSI Cyclone GTX 460 OC 1GB @ 875/1750/1826 + i7 940 @ 3.8GHz (BLCK 200) + DDR3 1600 8-8-8-24
27706 with PhysX on CPU (29453 GPU score)
33182 with PhysX on GPU #2 (29191 GPU score)

So it came awefully close to the GTX 480 in SLI: http://www.guru3d.com/article/geforce-gtx-460-sli-review/14

So which is better a 460 or 6870?

I am assuming the 6870? Where is the best price for these 2 items?

Single GPU config? GTX460 gives 90c better value per fps (49.0fps @ R2068), the HD6870 gives higher fps (59.3fps @ R2556)

Try ease off on your core a bit, ive noticed a trend, you need to balance the two or you don't get stability. High memory OC leads to lower core speeds and visa versa. My goal is 900mhz core, going to keep my memory @ 2000mhz as this is exactly what the samsung chips are rated for.

I'm talking about the 6970 vs SLI 460's. You can't compare a single R2000 card vs. a R6000 one.

You're confusing me even more

SLI 460s = R4000, so where is this R2000 coming from? And how did you arrive at the price of R6000 for a Cayman card?

Thanks everyone for the advice, I have updated my rig again (New i7 950, Cogage TRUE Spirit):

I have very disappointed in Zaps. What happened to them? They used to offer the best prices on the net, now they have heavily overpriced. Anywayz now I am using wootware and landmark instead.

Yes. November 22 is launch day.
Archer where you hear that? Because I heard that the 6970 is rumored to be released on the 10th November and the 6990 a couple of weeks after.

With a couple of extra bucks to spare, im thinking of getting a SSD. I dont know a lot about this so I thought I would play it safe so I choose a intel (picked the intel x25 40gig). I know it takes me overbudget but I am willing to pay the extra. I heard intel is the best choice for SSD or are their better?

I'm talking about a single card :) (R2000), point being you can not compare that to a 6970 you have to have SLI. (R4000) The R6000 is a guesstimate seeing the 5970 is going for around that price.

Nice upgrade to the 950 + Cogage.

Bad idea on the Intel SSD.

Go to wootware (and search the forum for the SSD threads - they're awesome).

Spend R2400 on a 120b SSD, dont look back. Ever. (Intel 40gb is going to irritate the **** outta you cos of its size).

Check http://www.prophecy.co.za. -> epic prices, and reliable awesomeness.

Cant remember,I do remember reading lots of times that the end of November is the launch period, so 22 November makes sense. 10 November is the date associated with the GTX580. Whether it will be a paper launch (like the 480 last year) or a real launch who knows.

As for the SSDs, rather check out the G. Skill drives. They are still really fast, but you get more storage capacity per Rand.

Yup. You can get the G.Skill Phoenix GBP2 120GB SSD from WootWare for R2140 which is a bargain. My G.Skill Phoenix GBP1 120GB SSD scored 7.7 in WEI and the max write speed that I got was about 240MB/s using 1MB blocks.

Now that looks almost perfect.

Perfection will be when you put the Republic of Gamers sticker on your case :)

Nice one.

Nicko: Here are a few things that you need to know about that quote that you posted:
1) You won't be able to get the 120GB SSD for R2000 any time soon. That R1999 was a limited time special only.
2) Although that motherboard is brilliant, it is not a Socket 1366 motherboard, so the i7 950 won't fit!
