Been playing destiny lately and I've started noticing major differences between the ISP's as you can group up with pretty much anyone globally.

What I've picked up is the 3 ISP's I've tested differ massively when I do a no-load ping test between EU and US (hardly the perfect test, but its what I have).
Afrihost Uncapped Business - EU = 178ms US = 375ms
WebAfrica (old unshaped prepaid account) - EU = 187ms US = 201ms
Crystalweb (ping provided by friendly consultant! :D ) - EU = 191ms US = 274ms

I'm looking for an uncapped account that prioritises gaming - don't care how badly P2P, etc is throttled.

Anyone got any suggestions for something that will be solid for EU & US?

Best go with CW premium uncapped. CW is the best/most consistent ISP I've used to date..WA and CW both run on the IS backbone so ping should be very similar over both accounts.

I don't think that WebAfrica ping has any chance of being correct. it takes more than 20ms to cross the atlantic to the states. That Afrihost latency looks like from Europe to the Western board of the states. The only more or less correct looking one is the CrystalWeb latency to me.

If you are in Centurion, you won't see more than about 10-15ms at most difference between ISPs.
Supposedly Afrihost has with the new network made a breakout point at Durban, which would decrease your latency to Eastern Europe. Most Internet Solutions ISPs (such as WebAfrica) should also be using the same path. The latency among most ISPs should be about the same. If you're only gaming, you should look for the best package for the price. If you can afford 10Mbps ADSL, the 1Mbps upload helps if you are having Voice chats.

Good day, you can try the MWEB account via our FREE 7 day trial:

http://www.mweb.co.za/internet-connection/adsl/uncapped-adsl/4mbps-uncapped-free-trial.aspx

When u done with MWEB, try VOX. I left MWEB exactly for the reason that I could not game on-line at all.

Thanks for the feedback! Did some more homework and you're right on the ping. Tracert cnn.com for some reason on some accounts ends up with an EU address instead of a US one.
Did some more digging for a definite US IP. Numbers the Crystalweb support guy gave me look spot on.

+1

Been with crystalweb for 5 months now on a premium uncapped 4 meg line and never had an ISP related problem, as for ping to EU servers on dota is usually between 175-220 ms which is not bad compared to other ISPs I have used

Lol, so many still so salty about MWeb. My local gaming pings are outstanding on MWeb, so much so that I'm embarrassed that my skills do not live up to my ping which is regularly the best in the lobby.

Don't have international pings to hand.

International ping on mweb, at least to europe, is the lowest iv seen out of all backbones. E.g. To bbc.co.uk on Crystal Web/Web Africa i get between 159 and 170ms and on mweb i get between 153 and 160ms. Probably won't make a noticeable difference though.

Just a quick question, what would be better...Crystal Web Crystal Clear Home Capped or Webafrica Business capped?
Looking at the 100gb options as I don't use much data. I only stream and game.

WebAfrica Business Capped has better international latency in my testing compared to Crystal Web, test it yourself.

well crystal Web and Web africa both resell standard internet solution account according to a telephone representative i spoke to they both should perform the same?

Crystal Web does not resell any standard IS account like Webafrica and operates its own network controllers and network policies completely different to those of Webafrica. Hence why our network is routinely voted the best in the country and far surpassing the results of standard IS resellers...

Don't want to be funny but you guys only won ISP once. The first time Crystalweb was not included because it was new company.

I would say you guys are one of the best because just like Vodacom to claim you have the best network you must outperform your competitors and I don't think Crystalweb does this or at least not when I was using Crystalweb a while back.

Three times, in fact. And there were significant changes 4 months ago to the network, particularly to the capped controllers, as many customers who experienced the transition will attest to. We moved from standard IS policies to our own for capped at that point...

wait so doesnt internet solution allow any reseller to have their own "create a product" utility? i see most "known" reseller do the same, so this makes sense no? you guys customise your reseller products to outperform the likes of web Africa and Open web? and dont the Crytal Web use web Africa for lines thru reseller? it looks like this if you query the line ownership as "wholesale" on telkom website?
