Hey Everyone.

I am using Octotel 100mb fiber and looking for a new ISP. Cool Ideas speeds suck to the US and need this for work. See screenshot
Any ideas?

I am subscribing to this thread because CI cannot cut it, it seems. Need to listen to my gut feel more often.

Mmmmmm..... Bitco perhaps?

I'm not convinced that the issue resides with the ISP though.

What you might find is Vumatel/Openserve might be more receptive when a bigger, more established ISP escalates issues on a customers behalf. I have absolutely no evidence of this though. Purely speculative but based on the feedback I get from CISP, Vumatel simply don't seem to take them seriously enough.

BitCo are 1984 Overlords... block access to Mega.nz and several other cloud providers. Would rather have NO INTERNET than use them.
Upon reflection you are right.. the FTTH provider is probably the problem.

Yeah, I made that point in a previous thread, quoting a Hellopeter.com complaint where the complainant was being blocked on all sorts of platforms/protocols. Complaint was from 2016 though.

One wonders if Bitco has changed their policies at all?

They established themselves in a corporate environment. I can't see how they would be shaping/managing or throttling cloud based services that big business generally rely on.

There's little to no feedback on Bitco on this forum cause they've only been doing FTTH since October 2018 I believe.... But look how they respond to complaints on Hellopeter.com. In most cases they follow through till an amicable solution is achieved.

I just get the impression that they a service orientated company.

Hi, have you logged this and gone through the respective process to narrow down the issue?

Hi PDCool.

No I have not, I have not had the greatest experience dealing with you from getting my line installed to dealing with account related issues. So I am pretty ready to throw in the towel. My line is set to be cancelled on the 31st of December 2018.

But if you can get my international line speed sorted then I might reconsider. I dont get how the problem could lie at octotel since they are only a last mile provider and my local speedtests are fine at 100mb/down and 25up. This means the last mile that Octotel provides is working as it should and points the finger to the ISP. My speeds also slow down in peak times (evenings) when everyone uses the international links.

Yeap so we are seeing a lot of this on Octotel at the moment, because local shows as fine this doesn't mean the last mile is working as it should. If there is congestion or packetloss you wouldn't notice it as much on lower latency but it has a massive affect on international. I am here as an escalation point and have always made myself available for this kind of thing. Please PM me your account details.

So Octotel is stuffed... as per my gut feel.
Will wait until they either pull their socks up or another provider comes along.
Cancellation sent.

Local packet loss on your last mile will cause exactly what you are seeing.

My result to London, Cape Town, and Seattle. I have a 20/20 line with Cool Ideas via VumatelIMG_20181223_091656.jpgIMG_20181223_091636.jpg

Indeed it will.
As it would turn out, it was admitted to me that my FISP is congested. I also have the sneaky suspicion that the issue (causing me to suffer a degradation) was caused directly because I upgraded.. i.e. the 100/25 packages are routed differently and that route is congested AF.

So my options are to downgrade until they pull finger. But let's see how this pans out.

EDIT: It is also appearing that my line has been cross-patched with someone else's

Who is the ISP?

This would make sense to me, let's see what cool ideas have to say with the results I sent them. FYI here is my speed test results on my 100mb line to Seattle USA connect using my Mikrotik router all connected via LAN to my Mac.

I have a 100mb line through Octotel
