Best ISP for international traffic?

I'm with WebAfrica and Frogfoot, and every day at around 5pm until 10pm, I get ridiculously slow speeds to international servers - like 40kB/s down on an 80mbps line. Upload is fine. I'm working on VPS servers based in the USA, so during USA office hours I can't do much, which is frustrating.

I'm not sure where the problem lies, whether it's WA or FF, but I know Webafrica has a notoriously bad reputation. Has anyone had the same experience with them? I contacted their customer support over WhatsApp (this alone is reason enough to leave them), but they weren't very helpful, just said they will "investigate"...

So, which ISP do you guys recommend for decent international traffic, especially during SA peak hours? WebAfrica is fine during off-peak SA hours, and I essentially get my full line speed to USA etc.

Although, if the issue is with Frogfoot, I guess it doesn't really matter what ISP I'm with?

Cool ideas gets my vote.. have never seen any throttling/shaping related issues during peak evening hours for the last 5 years I have been with them..

What happens with a single thread on this test? As that's more relative for a VPS and uploads. Also the test would need to be somewhere in the US, maybe the OP can also clarify where in the US the VPS is?

All with same set ups, router, AP etc. it me helping family set up, just happened at the time of sign up each of the services made sense.
Out of all three in terms of international speed and that internet snappy feeling I would rank them as follows.
1. Home-Connect
2. Afrihost

Home connect uses Seacom as transit, Afrihost is combo between 3 of them, Openserve, Liquid and Cogent.

Can you define how you are testing your international?

We are rated as the highest throughput per test from Ookla for about 4 years in a row within africa.

We do some traffic manipulation on international, which may help, I suspect there may be some congestion via your FNO.

Around 330ms. Interestingly, latency isn't affected much during peak hours, I just get more packet loss and slow download speeds

If you can pop me the IP, I can see what latency looks like. Latency is directly related to throughput in these circumstances.

If you want me to test for you via Afrihost, I'm in PE as well but on MetroFibre

Is via VPN etc so not such an easy test, and via a different FNO doesn't give a realistic comparison.

Interesting your ping is lower, I wonder if FF has issues with their express NLD to CPT. Could explain it.

I get around 12 ping to CPT, I know Frogfoot has been having issues lately with Youtube and other content, idk if it could be related? Saw a bit of talk in Afrihosts forum side
