Ok I need to get a few emergency lights. How much Lumen do i need for rooms apprixmately 30 sqm or do i buy an inverter and batteries and run LED lights from there.

Budget of R1000 to R2000

Small budget for a proper inverter setup.

I recommend you get a few Eurolux LED lights, the longish rectangular ones with batteries.

They are super bright and last at least 4 hours. They cost around R300, so you can get between 3-6 on your budget.

The second one on the page : Game - Eurolux

I have bought a single lamp like these Ultra Tech at Midas for R239. I am not sure if the special is still on but iirc. it was until end of March.

It has a 6V 4Ah battery and should have a long burning time before needing a recharge.

Those are excellent,I've ran mine for over 12 hours and they didn't go flat looked like they could go longer!

Which area are you in?There's a place in Vereeniging that sells those lights above at a fraction of the price!

Century electrical. Not sure if they will courier to you maybe give them a call to find out.

The brand I got from them was light-tec got it last year and it's still working fine. 0164401500 is their number.

FIL gave me one of these.

Saw one here in CT the other day, but he said theyre adding like 100% margin.

Solar charger, and hand crank for charging if youre in a pinch. Also has a few other charging cables but havent had the need to use them. I think I might also be able to charge a phone via the usb port and the dynamo crank, but havent tried.

I have ordered that one from Takealot and two weeks after payment and a twice confirmed delivery date they informed me that they are very sorry but out of stock. It still shows as available in JHB.

Around 2011 I walked past a Mica that was holding a Closing Down sale. They were selling those UltraTech lanterns for R50. I bought 2. Senwes in Vereeniging has the LED version for R250. Best price I've seen so far.
But don't laugh - I bought one of these on auction on BoB for my gardener a few years ago - R68

Last year we were chatting and I found out it was still working. So on a whim I bought two during the next auction.
Handiest things ever. 7 hours sunlight gives about 12 hours full power and 12 hours dimmer after that.
I ended up screwing a small hook into every ceiling last weekend. Its more than adequate to read by. You just move it to the room you are using.

You can buy a pack of 5 for R350. I'm going to pick one up as a interm measure before my solar system is installed.

I love the energizer ones. Bought one many years ago, it was nowhere near the R350 that kalahari is charging, never mind R600 :wtf:

I have a few of these, they last for 25 to 50 hours according to the manual. Have them in every room, great light when they power is down. Also got mine for about R250 on special here at a hunting shop.

These are super amazing. I picked up this pair for R399 from takealot on daily deal. Point them up at the ceiling... and its awesome! I want to get 2 more.

EDIT: Takea look at cape union mart too... apparently they are R650 and you can get a R50 discount if you order online the first time.
